Q:

Hey thanks for all of this! How much of an effect does Sarah's new husband really end up having with sarah saving Michael?

A:

He's her husband and they have a life together and he's deeply involved in everything she does -VW And working with Mark Feuerstein and watching him and Sarah tackle scenes was fun. He's incredible -MH

Q:

I have not watched your show. How hard is it to jump into a new season? Generally how do you balance writing for die hard fans returning for another go and pulling in new eyes?

A:

Its a stand alone. Its linked and you feel at times there's history, but you could easily come in and enjoy the ride. -VW I think, in terms of balancing those things, its good to have mystery. That said you don't want to make it all backward looking. You want to have a nice back story to explore but with lots of brand new stuff happening. Also the actors, are playing the characters knowing what has happened to them in the past. Its all there on the screen - MH All the actors wanted to play as if the time has actually passed. They were all very aware of that. -VW

Q:

What was the biggest revelation for you doing this series? In terms of the show itself or just creatively?

A:

For me, the fanbase is just tremendous. The level of interest and love for the show everywhere, even internationally was so incredible to see. - VW I also thought it was cool how cinematic we could make it. I actually felt like the original series was really cinematic too, which was one of its strengths. The interiors we shot in Vancouver and the exteriors we shot in Morocco were just incredible. Its a great example of pushing how far TV can go today. - MH

Q:

Music in the intro will be the same as in previous seasons?

A:

We have Ramin Djawadi back, and so he did a new version with a different a flair that's really cool. The cool thing about Ramin is that Prison Break was one of his bigger breaks at that time, but he's gone on to become huge. He's done Game of Thrones and Westworld, and he also did the music for the first Iron Man. -MH

Q:

So will there be any Legends of Tomorrow references in this season?

A:

Ha ha no. Those two worlds don't really intersect. -VW

Q:

Which one of the cast is the pranker? or doing some silly things to keep the cast entertained?

A:

Definitely Robert Knepper (t-bag), he had a bunch of jokes. He's really funny -MH

Q:

Do you wish you could release all the episodes at once? Or are you glad the story will unfold week-to-week?

A:

I think the episodes would be fun to watch all together or every week, but personally i like it spread out so it gives people time to digest it and talk about it. Its the kind of show that's perfect for 'water cooler talk' -MH

Q:

do the actors improvise during the shooting? Have you ever had that kind of case when improvisation from actor turned out to be better than the planned scene?

A:

We definitely have smart actors who add a lot to the scene. They're very loyal to the writing but there's always something they add to scenes where their talent shows through. In ep. 5 theres a scene where Lincoln's character is about to have to face a threat, because he was arguing with someone about violence being his default setting as a character...and Dom just simplified the line by saying "i guess it's about fists now". It was cool to see how he channeled it through the character and the line really set in with everyone on set. -VW

Q:

I agree with keeping some old characters out of season 5 but how hard was it keeping a fan favorite like Mahone out?

A:

Optimally we would've had everyone back, but to tell a good story its always going to be about hte story first. We know fans are always going to want to see their favorite characters, but we didn't want to short change anyone. We might save him for another season. -VW and MH

Q:

Which episode out of the 9 do you think is going to be that 'WTF happened' episode?

A:

ep 4 and 9 -VW ep 1 - MH

Q:

Prison Break is my favorite show ever and I'm so excited it's coming back! I was at the screening at SXSW a few weeks ago and I LOVED the first ep. Here's my question though:

So the original series was supposed to take place roughly from April to November of 2005. The new series takes place 7 years after the original series, but it's also supposed to be taking place in the present day. I've been trying to wrap my head around it but I can't make heads or tails of it. Is time a flat circle in the Prison Break universe?

A:

Someone sent me a photo of the headstone. It was written by Amy Adams in Arrival…loved that movie -VW We are scared of you counterfactuals!!! – you are paying way too much attention. Time is a flat circle in the Prison Break universe. -MH
