Director / CrewWe are Eric McCormack (Travelers, Will and Grace) and Brad Wright (creator Travelers, SG-1). Season 2 of Travelers hits Netflix, we're excited to talk about it, TV, sci fi, or anything! AUA!

Dec 19th 2017 by EricMcCormack • 13 Questions • 290 Points

Hey, Reddit! I’m super excited to be here for my very first AMA. My name is Kia and I’m running for Congress in California. Proof.

I’m a California native and the son of Iranian immigrants. I believe in the fundamental goodness of the American people, which is why I was both ashamed and outraged when Trump took the presidency.

Since becoming president, Trump has pushed a regressive agenda that has denigrated our political discourse; undermined our credibility abroad; and increased inequality and intolerance.

My top priority is to unseat the current incumbent, a pro-Trump Republican representing a district that voted for Clinton by over 5%, and to promote a progressive agenda that benefits all Americans, not just those seeking Trump’s largesse.

So ask away! I’m looking forward to answering your questions.

Get involved with my campaign by visiting my website and following along on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Q:

First, the question, then some gushing: With the timeline and story changing, does it create any writing or acting issues?

I've been waiting for season 2 on Netflix! I can't wait!

I've got some new favorite actors from this show. I really hope they branch out and do other things. Also, looking into their IMDB info, their backgrounds are so diverse and amazing. Seeing their other background and then seeing how awesome they are in Travelers is mindblowing. Just amazing acting all around. Congratulations to everyone on the team. In front of the camera and behind (music is great, camera shots are great, etc..). This show is top notch. Can't wait for season 3.

Also, a little off topic - amazing job on Will & Grace. My first viewing of the original and just finished the new season. :)

A:

Do you watch This Is Us? You should -- your story reminds me of Randall's.

Q:

What do you think is the Number 1 threat to endangered or at-risk cats?

How can a normal person help their cause?

A:

You mentioned that your Christmas movies are

on tv non-fucking-stop right now.

What do you feel about how in-your-face Christmas movies/music/etc. are this time of year?

Q:

Haha we were just there yesterday. I guess simple question, what are some good secrets of the park? Any interesting tips about it?

A:

With the ban on social media, how are you able to access Reddit? And that would be the repercussions if they were to find out you’re doing this AMA?

Q:

What specifically are you planning on suing them for? I completely agree with your motion by the way, I just want more information.

A:

How long does it take for you to figure out a sick burn?

Q:

The story said that you approached the accusers, not the other way around, but how did you know to investigate this in the first place?

A:

What are ways the non-profit assists those dealing with grief? Is it the same way you dealt with yours?

Q:

Did Harman/Samsung decide to close AKG down, or was it just your hq? What product(s) is your new company planning on producing? Will your main focus be consumer level, like headphones, or back to pro users?

Ive got to do research now, I one day wanted to get the AKG pro drum mic kit.

Thanks for taking time to answer questions!

A:

Is it as weird for you guys as it is for me that your music gets played on top 40 radio stations now? Been listening to you guys for almost a decade now and it's crazy how much you've blown up recently.

Also are you planning on playin Sasquatch next year?

Q:

Dude, you’re going to need to get better at answering questions if you want to beat Mimi Walters.

What do you stand for? Not against? If I asked Mimi if she wanted to help the middle class, she’d say “yes”. That doesn’t mean her actions support that statement. But how will your actions support your promise to help the middle class? What policies? What are your stances on the criminal justice system, corporate taxes, offshoring of profits, welfare, policing, drug policy, the electoral college, automatic voter registration, net neutrality, space exploration, climate change, universal healthcare, student loans, Wall Street? Give us something to work with. Don’t just say that you’re progressive. Kampala Harris calls herself progressive, but she and Bernie Sanders are not the same animal.

A:

When you start seeing the other actors in other projects, you'll be amazed at everybody's range. It's a privilege to be Grant and Will in the same year!

Q:

I haven't seen that show but I've heard some good things about it, I'll have to give it a watch eventually.

A:

How can a normal person help? VOTE!!! laws for protections come from the Congress on up. VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q:

I think all the hate that reddit/Facebook/twitter gives to Christmas culture is kinda dumb. I like all of it when I'm in the mood for it. When I'm not in the mood for it, I can listen to or watch something else. It's a fairly easy adjustment!

That being said, Santa shouldn't appear until the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I think it's dumb to start the Christmas stuff the day after Halloween. Going to the Macy's parade however? OVERRATED.

A:

Personally, find the old abandoned stuff interesting. Where the construction by the games are, there used to be a monorail station from like the 70s. Also the gazebo looking thing right in front of jet stream is what remains of a really old ride called the dragon ride. Pretty cool stuff.

As far as tips, the best food imo is at Chop Six by X2 and Viper. Stuff's just yummy

Q:

The ban isnt a ban per se. Nothing written, no clear directive. But.. for example if you post something derogatory towards the Immigration officials on facebook, they confiscate your phone. We had one guy whose x-wife put him here. He posted his story and it got thousands of followers. She complained to Immigration. They confiscated his phone. I expect they will confiscate my phone tomorrow or later this week. Only one artist here. Your phone is your lifeline. Its communication with the outside world, family, wife or girlfriend if you have one, friends, work, attorney, bank.... Its more than that. Its our mental escape. Its movies, games whatever you need to take your mind somewhere else. For me its music, art and ebooks. We have a few paperbacks. Ive read them. Numerous times. The Koreans and Taiwanese own mp3 soundsystems so we get a half dozen compilations of their music playing. Again and again and again... There is a tv which is sometimes on for a few hours, but the guards have the controls so not useful if you dont enjoy beauty contests or local soaps. It makes a world of difference to slip on a pair of earphones, close your eyes and escape into music. Its sanity. Its a very thin thread which can help you hold on to sanity. Without a phone this place is hell.

A:

Seconding Nathan at Access. We disagree with the FCC on their interpretation of the Communications Act. We believe the FCC didn't justify its action with any real facts for abandoning Title II classification for broadband ISPs. Then there are the huge problems with the FCC's process in this proceeding like not meaningfully engaging with the comments and not giving adequate notice about their plan to kill all the rules save some weaksauce transparency provisions. For starters that is.

A:

This is Stephanie: while I was reporting another story in the Gadsden area, I heard that Roy Moore liked teenage girls, and as we began talking to more people, specific names began to emerge. It turned out that quite a lot of people in the Gadsden area had heard these stories about Moore over the years, and some had direct knowledge of the situation.

Q:

The ways we help others has definitely been inspired by my own journey as well as other people I hear stories from... I have asked questions in different subreddits to find out what has really helped people and talked to the people we are serving.

There are a few main ways we support people in grief. One is directly showing up for the free portrait session. It’s often a time of acceptance and beautiful emotions come out with the ones they love. Our desire is to celebrate life with people while they have it so we try to create meaningful experiences when we can.

Next, we deliver a beautiful hand-crafted eco leather photo album (think wedding heirloom quality). This book not only preserves memories but gives loved ones a space to grieve once their loved one dies. The book holds space for people without fear, judgement, or expectation that you often find elsewhere.

We also follow up with people and do our best to continue relationships to let people know they are loved and remembered. We send out holiday photo ornaments and unexpected gifts.

We are growing to support the greater community in grief by adding empathy cards, portrait session gift certificates (that you can send to people who you think might want a session), adding to our resources page, and have a few other things rolling out in 2018.

Thank you for your question and feel free to message me with ideas if you have any on how we can better love and support people in grief!

A:

The AKG brand built up tremendous value over the past 70 years. The brand lives on. The AKG office and factory in Vienna was closed. A handful of years earlier, the entirety of the Consumer product line was consolidated under the control of Harman Consumer. This happened at every brand. We lost a bunch of fine folk but some are still with us at Austrian Audio.

We're working on full Consumer and Professional product lines. We plan to debut in the higher-end of those markets and then offer a broader set of options across the board. We've also got B2B and ODM business projects that have been humming along nicely for a few months at this point. There's a lot going on.

That pro drum kit is a good one and of quite good value. The d12VR is under-appreciated on the market except by those that have used them. I'm rather fond of that mic.

Q:

Yeah it’s pretty weird to hear it on pop stations, cool though that there’s so many DJ’s playing a rock band. I don’t think we’re doing Sasquatch this year...bummed cause i’m from Seattle so it’s always fun to play. Bumper shoot though. -K

A:

So you can find a lot of where I stand on all those issues on my issues page here https://kiafororangecounty.com/issues/. I've tried to make it as exhaustive as possible. I also promise you it will not change once I win the primary.

In terms of what you laid out:

1) criminal justice system-I believe we need to end mass incarceration and enact criminal justice reform. I view the war on drugs as a complete and abject failure.

2) I definitely don't think we should be lowering the corporate tax rate to 20 percent. I would prefer corporate tax reform that rewards companies that are creating jobs here in the US and paying their workers well.

3) offshoring of profits-we shouldn't make it so easy for companies to do so. I was also a fan of the idea of using some of that money to help pay for an infrastructure package.

4) welfare reform was a huge mistake that has hurt many people living in poverty. I'm not saying we need to go back to the system we had before, but I can tell you that the current system doesn't work for anyone. I would really like to see state and local governments test out different universal basic income ideas to see how workable they might be.

5) A great deal of work needs to be done to build trust between police and the communities that they are serving. There have been far too many tragedies around the country and there hasn't been enough accountability.

6)drug policy-kind of connects to my first answer but we should be treating it as a public health problem as opposed to using the criminal justice system.

7) the electoral college-would abolish it if it were up to me.

8) automatic voter registration-strongly support

9) net neutrality-strongly support

10) space exploration-support but also think more broadly that we need to invest more in science and technology.

11) climate change- existential question of our time. Have to address. Need to put a price on carbon, invest in clean energy, and make regulatory changes that will help to speed the transition.

12) universal healthcare- support single payer

13)student loans-support debt-free college. In terms of how we get there I think we start by making community college free, expanding Pell Grants, allowing the ability refinance student loans, and cracking down on bad actors in the for-profit sector.

14) Wall Street-Need to build on the work in Dodd-Frank as opposed to rolling back regulations the way the Republicans have proposed. Need to strongly protect the CFPB and make sure it continues doing the work that its doing.

Q:

Hey, I was curious of how this show came about? Who chose this casts because it is the perfect cast for this show. Last question, any guest stars to come, maybe such as Debra Messing, only asking because Eric McCormack did an appearance on the Mysteries of Laura? Thank you!

A:

do you know how it got started? were his parents before him early adopters?

Q:

What is the closest you’ve come to being eaten?

A:

I wish the christmas movie of yours that was stuck on rotation was The Ultimate Christmas Present instead. Also, when am I going to see a dark comedy starring you and Michael Cera as brothers?

Q:

MONORAIL!!

A:

Are you able to share anymore photos documenting the conditions you are in? Before they come for your phone. ;-) Stay safe brother!

Q:

Is weaksauce official legal terminology? =P

A:

Of all of the competitors you’ve roasted, who handled the situation best?

Q:

I know you can't disclose what you are working on next, but would it be fair to say that you have been flooded with tips about other sexual predators that will keep you busy for a long time? Would it be fair to characterize what we have seen so far as just the beginning?

A:

Have you considered adding linking them to local grief counselors to help with their loss?

Q:

What will be the first product you will release?

A:

Hey, I'm going to go see you in Chicago. Could you guys please play "So American"?

Much appreciated!

Q:

Firstly, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to answer questions. Although I am not a California resident, I like to know more about those running for elected government positions in other states.

Secondly, you only really mentioned that the incumbent representative is a pro-Trump Republican. This doesn't tell me much about his beliefs or actions, but rather only tells me whether he likes our President or not (in fact, you didn't even give his/her name). With all due respect, regardless of whether you support Trump or not, running simply on the basis of being pro- or anti-Trump does not give much information on your specific beliefs or intentions and has the potential to alienate a good portion of your intended audience. (I'm sure that you have specific beliefs and intentions, however from how I see it that the OP does not make this clear.)

So my question is, what makes you a better fit for your state district* than the current representative? What can you specifically do for your state district* that they can't?

Edit: Not sure why I've been downvoted. Oh well.

A:

Brad had me in mind for Grant, which made me extremely happy. Then he showed me his picks for the younger roles and I was blown away. All Canadian! As for guest stars, I don't think we'll do anything as "meta" as having Debra or Sean. But Enrico Colantoni is brilliant in season 2!

Q:

No, they weren't. It started with my dad's older sister, who adopted seven (yes seven) children over a period of 9-10 years. Then my parents adopted me, and then later my dad's other sister adopted a child.

A:

every story there is a moment of face to face fear - - which might lead to being on the dinner menu - but I have not been attacked directly in 25 years

Q:

I haven't seen that movie in forever. I wonder if they're playing it this year. I had the quintessential 90's little boy haircut in that.

As for your question, I don't know. Michael, are you out there? It's me Spencer. We don't know each other but u/mrmightymyth wants us to make a movie. Let's do it. It could be a fucked up "Freaky Friday" type of thing. One of us swaps bodies with Jamie Lee Curtis and the other swaps with Ms. Lohan. Let's do this shit.

A:

Aren't we all waiting on that

Q:

We have some photos posted at flowersforbicutan.jimdo.com and there are a lot more out there. Just google Bicutan Immigration Detention Center and some of those sites have a lot of pics. To be honest, Im only allowed to use my phone a few hours a day(international law says I get unlimited access. Local office of the Ombudsman says I get unlimited access. Local Commission on Human Rights says I get unlimited access. I dont get unlimited access). Im borrowing a phone from a Korean. We recently had about 60 Koreans deported, all organized crime, all of whom had been paying bribes to avoid deportation because they have criminal charges back home. The way it works is you pay a bribe to the administration office( the admin staff are nicknamed "how-much-E" by the Koreans because they can be bribed to do ANYTHING) and you get your phone inside, its done monthly just like a utility fee. So some Koreans were deported and there are extra phones inside that other Koreans inherited. Im borrowing one, but if they see me with it taking pictures I'll lose this one. I cant use my phone for this, the admin staff go through your phone pretty often while its in the office. Another detainee here who is a real reddit addict tried to post some pics in a comment here today but the mods seem to have barred it. But there are tons of pics online. Just do a google search.

A:

You should really see the things we say about AT&T's legal theories in the official FCC record.

Q:

WingStop

A:

Yes - Beth

Q:

We are working on that. We need some legal help to make sure we don’t get in a mess since that can be really touchy.

A:

It will be awesome. Thanks.😎

Actually, in the development timeline, our first product will be a B2B test system that is being sold to high-end and high-volume manufacturers so that they can test equipment that they make in a modern and reliable fashion. One of the legs of our business plan is a healthy B2B component that brings our Test & Measurement expertise to the outside world.

Q:

Yeah that’s in the books -K

A:

Thank you so much for the question.

Firstly, I will respond in regards to Mimi Walters, the current representative from California's 45th district. As a Member of Congress, I would actually represent the interests of my district. For instance, Mimi just voted in favor of the Republican tax plan, which will only serve to hurt middle-class families not only in my district but also in the entire state of California. Secondly, she does not ever return to the district and she does not live in the district. She's not accountable, accessible, and she does not care what our citizens care about. Our problems include the cost of housing, healthcare, income inequality, the cost of childcare, student debt, and protecting the environment— Mimi has done nothing to address these issues and instead, she has voted to take healthcare away from 22 million people.

What I want to do is work to build the middle class and fight for working families in my district and in this country. There is nothing more important than that.

Q:

I just wanted to say I'm absolutely thrilled about season 2 and can't wait to watch it.

Will I force my relatives to binge watch season 1 and 2 with me over the holidays? Time will tell.

No real question, I just wanted to say thanks for making such a great show!

A:

Were they adopted all at once, or was it gradual, and eventually the siblings started taking care of the new adoptees so it became easier?

Q:

Hi Steve! As a aspiring photographer I have a question about wildlife photography in general. What are your suggestions for safely photographing large animals like moose or bears?

A:

When will we see a sequel to Disney’s The Kid?

Q:

What's the average sunglasses to smartphones ratio you find under the rides?

A:

If you don't mind me asking,

1.) what got you jailed? 2.) how long have you been there? 3.) what actions can you take to secure your release? 4.) could you contact your family? 5.) would you be able to get a public lawyer? 6.) is it near impossible to secure your release once there?

Q:

First off, I would like to say thank you guys. As a lawyer myself, I think this is one of the most righteous causes to fight for at the moment, and if you guys would ever like assistance from a lawyer who has a background in electrical engineering, has done legal work for telecommunications companies, and has a strong understanding of con law, please let me know and I'd be happy to help out.

Second, I know that you responded to a follow-up question below, but I have a more nuanced question that I'd like to ask. You say that the FCC failed to properly follow the APA. What sections and/or clauses of the APA are you asserting that they failed to follow? More specifically, can you tell me what legal arguments you would make in response to this comment by /u/InquisitorialRetinue posted here and reproduced below.

Based on what procedural mandate, and on what theory? The AGs can’t even cite the APA correctly (“Procedure” is not plural). How is this different from interest groups urging the writing of form letters to an agency making identical points, most of which are disregarded by agency staff anyway? (The agency need only consider a significant point, not its redundant iterations.)

For one, it’s not a popularity contest. See, e.g., U.S. Cellular Corp. v. FCC, 254 F.3d 78, 87 (D.C. Cir. 2001) (an agency “has no obligation to take the approach advocated by the largest number of commenters” and “may adopt a course endorsed by no commenter.”). For two, the APA “has never been interpreted to require the agency to respond to every comment, or to analyse every issue or alternative raised by the comments, no matter how insubstantial.” Thompson v. Clark, 741 F.2d 401, 408 (D.C. Cir. 1984); see also Vermont Yankee (“administrative proceedings should not be a game or a forum to engage in unjustified obstructionism by making cryptic and obscure reference to matters that ‘ought to be’ considered and then, after failing to do more to bring the matter to the agency’s attention, seeking to have that agency determination vacated on the ground that the agency failed to consider matters ‘forcefully presented.’”).

Here, the AGs point to comment spam, but then don’t elaborate on how they are material to the validity of the proposed rule. They don’t even articulate a theory! Sure sounds to me like cryptic obstruction of the Vermont Yankee variety.

While this comment is pointed at halting/pausing the vote on the repeal due to the allegedly fraudulent comments, the cited case law (as well as precedential case law such as Citizen's United) does make a compelling argument in favor of the FCC. And, as an engineer, given the standard of arbitrary and capricious, it seems like the FCC has provided enough information to jump that incredibly low hurdle. So while I think it's the wrong outcome, the law does seem to indicate that the FCC will win.

Long story short, I would like to know how you all are planning to respond to those rules and arguments and what other legal theories/arguments you are planning on posing.

Thanks!

Is your only job managing social media of Wendy's?

Q:

Did Moore ever attempt to contact you directly and, if so, what did he say?

A:

Why was this downvoted it's right on the website. It's the correct answer.

Q:

Why do K701 have such a horrible headband, you can read hundreds of complaints of the soft nubs on the headband hurting the head after 2-3 hours of listening. Did you have an ergonomics specialist on your team?

A:

Does "Holy Roller" have anything to do with the Flanders-Lovejoy bowling team of the same name from The Simpsons?

Q:

Thank you for your response! If I was a member of your district you would have my vote.

Also, apologies if my question sounded like it leaned one way or another politically (given the downvotes); I'm not familiar with the political situation on a per-District basis in California, so my question was one out of curiosity.

A:

You should ABSOLUTELY force the family to watch. Tell 'em I said so.

Q:

No, they were adopted over a long period of time. My oldest cousin, who is black, was adopted sometime in the early/mid-80s (I just don't remember exactly how old he is). The youngest one was adopted in 1994 or 1995. I'm sure they did sort of raise each other to some extent.

A:

there is a safe distance and time of year to photograph bears - I did it when the salmon were spawning so the bears were laser focused on their food - and not me - but you need to keep a safe distance at all times - as they both can run very fast over short distances - people that are experts in the area these species live can give you the best options. good luck!

Q:

When I finally become "The Man."

A:

I work on pretty mild rides, so not a ton of stuff gets lost. And even if I did, I wouldn't know. Only the supervisors are allowed to walk the track and pick up lost stuff. That being said, a lot of people forget their phones in the cars.

Q:

I over stayed my visa. My fault, I admit it. Ive been here for several years and since the people who reported me and then stole everything I owned upon my arrest have no doubt made a complaint against me, I cannot be released. This is the beauty of it, if you are charged with a crime you get a trial, right? You have your chance to tell your side of the story. But a complaint goes to Immigration, not through any part of the legal/judiciary system. You do NOT get to tell your side of the story without an attorney. Hard to hire an attorney when everything you own has been stolen by the people that put you here. There are public attorneys. Once a year they come here, put up a big banner, sit with a few detainees and have their pictures taken. We do not hear from them again. Various human rights groups do the same. Unfortunately Amnesty International doesnt cover "detention camps", I dont know why. I dont have any family but others do and they have limited phone access and laptop access(international law says we get unlimited access. We dont.) to contact them. We get visitors a few days a week(international law says 7 days a week. Isnt applied to us). Getting released or deported varies for every individual. Getting released requires paying bribes. Very large bribes. With no guarentee you will actually be released. We have one guy here, already spent €50k to get bail, hes "out" on bail in a criminal case. He's still here. Its a good game. Getting released if you have criminal charges against you in your own country or an influential country like the U.S. is pretty much impossible. Ive seen it done, but we're talking bribes in the €100k+ ballpark, and even then... For the rest of us getting released is a question of money. Deported may be easier. You see, they dont like to release you once youve been here, you might file charges against them. We file charges against them from inside but we arent taken to the hearings so the charges get dismissed. Another good game.

A:

Sure! Quick caveat that though you're bringing up very interesting issues we can't hash out the whole legal theory in this AMA.

The state of the record raises a lot of issues only some of which are justiciable and only some of those will be directly relevant to challenging this rule making.

On process challenges in general, here's one we've made public: The agency completely failed to notice the authority upon which the weak transparency rule rests. It's a huge problem for the rules. https://ecfsapi.fcc.gov/file/1207948529615/Section%20257%20ex%20parte%20Dec%207%202017.pdf

Q:

Every decision we make has at least something to do with the Simpsons. -Z

A:

No worries at all. I always tell people that it can't just be about being against Donald Trump and being against Mimi Walters. We need to present a positive vision of where we want to take the future of Orange County and this country. Because at the end of the day it's about what we can do improve the lives of others.

Q:

Do the actors bring up concerns or corrections about things (timeline or continuity issues)? Are they invested in the story, too?

A:

I just want you to know that I fucking worship you. Keep it up.

Q:

Why not?

A:

Well now I’m curious.

What exactly is your hottest take on Rampart?

Q:

How many have you found?

A:

Damn. I can't imagine how it must be like.

It's really shitty that you're pretty much like one step higher from how actual criminals get treated just for overstaying.

I'm guessing the reason why they don't want anyone knowing anything is because what they're doing is borderline illegal and their abuse of authority would be put into question if people knew more about the situation.

Hope things get better. If it wouldn't be too risky, getting some evidence as to the conditions there could probably serve as a trump card in the future.

Q:

My only understanding of the matter is that the FCC enacted Title 2, so why can't they unilaterally get rid of it?

Q:

There is something very strange about this AMA. OP is ignoring all the interesting questions and shit posting all others... I have to say I’m enjoying it. I’m a bit confused why a company that is planning on starting by making only research grade testing hardware is doing an AMA in this fashion- or at all. But anyways- I use AKG C414s as room mics for my tracking studio. Should we expect a drop in quality in mics made after Samsung buyout?

A:

what was the moment you realized that Feel It Still was gonna change your life?

Sweetest thing your label bought you?

anything you'd wish you had known/done before the whirlwind began?

bonus question: is it annoying when people assume you're a new band? i'm waiting on the Best New Artist Grammy nod tbh

Q:

And yet you start your AMA with saying “you’re ashamed and outraged when Trump got elected”

A:

Luckily, Brad welcomes our enthusiasm (if not our pitches! :) The more invested we all are, the better.

Q:

Why? :D

A:

I saw the bad that all the ayahuasca healing lodges have done around Iquitos - selling of jaguar parts - though the chinese are buying the canines. Tourist involved in the "healing" are buying jag skin wrist bands - jaguar teeth necklaces - etc. Where do you think these items come from - jaguars are now being killed way too often and this needs to be stopped. My job is to tell the story visually, about jaguars. Chip the writer was able to write a better story taking it - but we went to a real jaguar shaman - many are fueling the trade - are not locals with connections to the cat and culture.

Q:

We have it in spades. Doesnt make a difference. Without an Embassy to back you up, you cant get anywhere from within the system. We had a guy was locked up in solitary for months. His x-gf put him here and she told the officials he had TB, HIV, a host of diseases. They locked him in solitary as a protective measure, to keep us from getting infected. Until he payed for a medical examination which proved he didnt have any of those diseases. The first 4 days he was there they forgot to feed him. A rat bit him on the foot and he got no medical attention. This guys story was a nightmare. He joined my complaint to the Commission on Human Rights. They didnt want to touch it. His Embassy(U.S.) said "we cant get involved". He was here with no criminal charges, just a complaint from his x-girlfriend who was jealous that he found a new girl. They got him out after about half a year, thats fast. No Western embassy will touch this place. Unless you include the Israeli embassy. Their citizens dont stay here 24 hours, because their embassy informs the locals that after 24 hours the Israelis will get their citizen out and any dead bodies left behind are not their concern. I wish I was Israeli.

A:

Agencies actually can't "unilaterally" do anything. By law they must engage in reasoned decision making and follow the process in the Administrative Procedures Act. Agencies that don't often get their regs overturned. Those requirements include things like providing the public advanced "notice" of their proposed actions and providing adequate evidence for their descision.

Wouldn't say never, but let's just say it's one of the many things Wendy's does better. cough frozenbeef cough

Email us, call us. Meet with us in person. Tell us what happened, show us any evidence, and point us to other people who can corroborate the accounts. [email protected] - Beth

Q:

Thank you. That is the average for both travel sessions and local sessions. We have broken it out more in our crowdfunding page if you’re interested in the photo book, session, photographer retreat, etc.

A:

As to the what is going to happen to Harman/AKG after being acquired by Samsung: we simply have no visibility into that future. The only thing that we know for certain is that the Harman/AKG workforce was decimated.

The good news is that Austrian Audio GmbH is now utilizing its full capacities to develop compelling microphone and headphone products with the goal of producing as much of the constituent components (plus final assembly and QC) right here in Vienna. Our current product roadmap has our 1st two condenser mics projected to be made here in our facility with our own capsules that are made in-house. We're rather serious about this goal and we think that the market is there for it.

Q:

Honestly, it didn’t just get released and blow up immediately. It kind of happened slowly over 6 months as it went from AAA to Alternative to Pop on radio. We we’re out promoting it almost everyday for so long we were kind of in the eye of the hurricane so it’s hard to get perspective. But yeah it didn’t really hit us like a brick wall of “oh shit” just a lot of little “oh shit’s” from march to now. -K

A:

I mean I am both ashamed and outraged. But I want to channel that anger in a positive way and actually work to make a difference in the lives of my constituents.

Q:

Eric I love your work mate but you are a shocker for spoilers

A:

There's alot of talk nowadays about "white privilege." Do you feel like you've benefited from that at all, even though you're black? As a black man raised in a white family, what are your overall thoughts on the concept of privilege?

Q:

These galleries are gorgeous! Your shots show a relationship with these animals that must have taken some time and mutual respect to build.

To keep my question on topic, what is your favorite big cat story to tell at social functions?

What I really came here to ask is this: As an aspiring travel photographer, how would you suggest getting in with a big name like National Geographic? Do they accept applications for apprenticeships from amateur photographers, or will they review portfolios submitted by those with virtually no internet presence? I hear that many photography jobs now necessitate a pretty large online following, and that seems tough to garner given the sheer volume of images already out there.

Thanks for taking the time to do an AMA, Steve!

A:

WHY in the hell did they film You Wish! in New Zealand??

Q:

U seen a girl chest come out her shirt on a ride b4?

A:

I could not find any evidence of "Flowers for Bicutan" existing. Do you have a link?

What reason would there possibly be to choose random citizens for being detained? Are you endowed with sensitive knowledge? How large of a bribe(USD$) 'exactly' would it take to negotiate your release? How about the release of the entire jail? Please answer with vivid detail!

Q:

Is there a particular aspect of the rollback/ change in regulation that you feel meets the arbitrary and capricious language?

You have the Son of the Baconator, you have the classic Baconator, so when will we get the Father of the Baconator, or as I would like to call it, "The Bacon Daddy"?

Q:

Not sure if this will get any visibility or a response, but I wanted to suggest that you provide (or obtain if you don't have one) a PGP key and share the public key here so that people concerned with privacy can share these details in a secure, encrypted manner.

This AMA is getting tens of thousands of views (possibly more) and it might be beneficial in encouraging those more hesitant to come forward with important information about the abuse of women, men and power by those in government and beyond.

I have no need to email (thank goodness) but it may be seen by the right person.

What is a photographer retreat?

Q:

The AKG K701 open-back headphones are the best I've ever owned. The mids are extremely clean and the highs very crisp. A well-produced record through those almost sounds like it's appearing before your eyes.

Can you explain what made those particular headphones kick so much ass?

A:

From your perspective, what do you think the coolest thing that fans do to show their appreciation of you is? (Generally or a particular thing a fan did that you thought was the coolest).

Q:

Thanks for doing an AMA, good to see candidates communicating with the public.

I've read that your 'motivation' for running stems partially from the announcement of Trump's infamous travel ban and your personal issues associated with that. Anti-Trump, anti-republican is a reasonable enough stance and all but what else do you especially stand for? What do you think your campaign has that will make Californians vote against the republican movement except for simply disliking Trump (which, can probably not be counted on too surely)?

A:

What? I've spoiled nothing you won't find in promos. No one wants season 2 to be a surprise more than me.

Q:

I'm not a sociologist and I'm not a very active follower of the social justice culture war thing. But I do in general buy the idea of privilege, although I think it's more complex than people on either side claim, and I think there's a sort of class privilege which is more significant than white privilege per se.

The fact that upward social mobility is much more difficult than we like to pretend means that being born/adopted into a reasonably well-to-do family is a huge privilege. It just so happens that white people are more likely to belong to this category than black people, for obvious historical reasons and probably structural constraints. So I think being born white per se is not a huge source of privilege, but being born white and well-off is undoubtedly a big advantage.

I do also think that being a carrier of white American culture is a privilege in itself, given the prestige assigned to that culture. In my case, I'm privileged in that I can pick up the phone and "sound white" without any effort, and I can identify more closely with the sort of mainstream Anglo-American culture and assimilate into it more easily.

All that being said, I certainly don't subscribe to the idea that all white people are more privileged than all black people, although I think that's kind of a strawman argument used by opponents of the concept of privilege. I have (white) relatives on my mom's side of the family who didn't finish high school and live in total squalor, I am 100% more privileged than them. Basically, I think that in 2017, economic status is a better determinant of a person's chances of being successful than skin color, although the two factors interact/amplify one another in many ways.

A:

Look below at my answer to another question about finding your own vision. Spending time with your subject - etc. emotion - good luck! Also animal stories that 8-10 weeks just to get close to your subject - learn the behavior and landscape to be able to bring back unique images

Q:

Cause it’s beautiful! Tax incentives too.

A:

Nope

Q:

Detainees are here for three general reasons: #1: legitimate immigration issues such as overstaying their visa. This should just be a matter of paying a fine. It isn't, once your here. #2: foreigners who are out on bail from criminal cases. These people should be OUT on bail, right? But they are here, they might get bail from Immigration... But now we're talking bribes. It's a good business. #3: foreigners who have a "complaint" against them. You often don't know what that complaint is. Most common are the wife or girlfriend, the x-wife or x-girlfriend, or the local business partner. Usually the person that makes the complaint profits by doing so. Getting release varies in complexity and cost. Usually getting released costs around fifteen or twenty thousand Euros, much of that in bribes. Sometimes it's simply a matter of having an attorney. A lot of people that are brought here lose everything or can't get access to their funds. Release is difficult.

A:

The most straightforward is that the "evidence" they relied on for this rule making - their investment data is bogus: https://www.freepress.net/blog/2017/05/24/fcc-chairman-pai-doesnt-know-how-measure-investment

Q:

We provide a photographer retreat for every volunteer photographer before they start serving with us. It’s a weekend where we focus on self-care, empathy, grief, and special photography needs when entering into these sensitive situations.

We want every photographer to be equipped and able to enter into the lives of the people we are serving with compassion, love, and understanding. No judgement. No fear. No expectations. The training weekend allows the photographers to build community with each other, talk openly about their fears or experiences, and learn what they need to know to be their best possible self and photographer no matter the situation.

A:

Will pose this inquiry to our Acoustics team in the morning and then get back to you.

Q:

Cooking us food is a super nice thing. We don’t always get to sit down and eat like normal people on tour so sometimes a restaurant will invite us in and it’s always super nice for us and our crew. We usually invite the kitchen staff to the show after and we all hang out. Always a fun exchange. -K

A:

Yes, the travel ban is why I'm running but it’s certainly not the only issue that I care about. It's representative of the kinds of politics that are coming out of this country. For example, we need to fight for the Dreamers, we need to fight against the decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement. Yes, you’re right. It’s not just about opposing Mimi Walters or Donald Trump, we need to have a vision that demonstrates that we are actually doing something to make peoples’ lives better in Orange County and in this country.

What I want to offer these voters is someone who has the experience of working for two really great Senators. I’ve learned how a representative should go about being accountable, accessible, and taking action on issues that people care about. I’m passionate about the environment, addressing student debt and healthcare, and ensuring that we provide jobs that pay good wages and provide good benefits for all people.

Q:

Fingers crossed. Thanks for a great show btw

A:

This sounds like a well thought out, reasonably nuanced, non-emotionally-charged piece.

You have no place on reddit, get out.

A:

As a friend of u/cuzitsrainintnite , I can answer some of this.

Here is a sample of his artworks that he is donating.

And here is the fundraiser website run by an ex-detainee called Joachim who is an art dealer/gallery owner/curator in Vienna.

Q:

Has anything like this (from the FCC or other regulatory organization) been overturned in court? If so, how long could it take? The courts are very slow of course, but could public interest increase the speed? Are you thinking within 2 years? 4 years / in the next administration?

*edit: fixed some spelliing

A:

How did you get this job?

Q:

Were there any allegations brought to your attention that were not reported due to lack of credibility?

A:

You truly are such a blessing to this world. Not only are you a survivor of such grief, but you're using your own personal experience to change other peoples lives, to extend a hand letting them know they aren't alone in this. Thank you.

Brad knows all, DDD. And we're excited to premiere season 2 in the UK on the 26th. Then, 10 days later, the new W&G premieres on Channel 5! Deb, Megan, Sean & I will be coming to London in early Feb, very excited!

The FCC like other agencies have a long history of their decisions being challenged in court. In fact, we are where we are today because the ISPs kept challenging the FCC's Net Neutrality regulations in court over the last decade. The ISPs have won this round at the FCC but turnabout is fair play and we'll undoubtably challenge the agency on some of the same grounds they did.

As far as timing - we can't go to court until the FCC's decision is published in the federal register so this whole thing will kick off sometime early next year. And then it could be a year or more until its resolved.

Q:

I posted on this ama saying people call me "the beef" and they hired me

Miniaturization (as always, ever smaller...), integration into monolithic structures. Be sure to investigate MEMS technology. It’s everywhere and nobody even notices AND that’s how it should be. Beam-Steering and Forming Deeper integration into existing tech belongs here too.

A:

Hillary Clinton would have not been my first pick to be the standard bearer for the Democratic Party in 2016. With that said there is no question in my mind that she would have made a better president than Donald Trump. I don't view Donald Trump as evil. I believe that he is advocating policies that are bad for the people of this country. I also think he is in over his head and beneath the dignity of the office.

Q:

Is all filming done in Canada (although it's supposed to take place in Seattle area)? Any chance of being an extra in season 3? ;)

Do you #MAGA? You sound like you #MAGA.

Q:

Who is your man-crush?

A:

Now that the park is open 365 days a year, where are they going to find employees to work weekdays? Most employees look like students. Also, how can they make money being open on weekdays when all of their potential customers are in school?

Q:

Why not deport them to their home country.

A:

To what extent does the FCC's decision to disregard (1) the quantity of pro net neutrality comments, and (2) the "cyberwar" campaign to flood the site with fake comments affect whether a court will conclude today's vote was arbitrary and capricious?

The "arbitrary and capricious" doctrine sets a high standard of proof necessary to prevail in a civil action.

Q:

What are your thoughts on A Christmas Prince?

A:

How did you prepare the victims in the case for the obvious attacks from the gutter press and that their testimonies' and character would be brought into question. Did it put them off speaking out? Thanks, real honour to hear your insight.

Q:

Speaking from personal experience (I lost my daughter at infancy), I've found that grief (particularly with regards to children) is a very taboo subject socially. Do you have suggestions for opening dialog so people can get the support they need from friends and family? Isolation made the experience exponentially worse for me and a decade later, I still find it difficult to discuss.

Also, plug for /r/babyloss.

A:

Are you guys hiring? I live in Vienna but I wanna learn and do a different job and I will do anything lol

Q:

A:

Will you be aggressive about Medicare for All?

To clarify, "supports" is a Lucy and the Football type statement. Doesn't mean much, given how frequently we have seen M4A and similar efforts pushed back and off to the side for basically any reason.

Put another way, what will you be doing to help get M4A into law?

Q:

Yeah, the show is fully Canadian: all shot in Vancouver, all Canadian cast and crew. Really proud of that!

A:

Absolutely not, what made you draw that conclusion?

Q:

Iggy Pop.

A:

Well, a majority of the employees are students but there are still people who aren't. I'm still in highschool so I won't be working during the week except on breaks. And I honestly have no idea how six flags is planning on making a profit. The price that rides and employees cost versus the income they'll be making seems way out of balance for a regular Tuesday in the middle or March. But hey that's just me

Q:

Some do. Ah, but you want to go home? Then you can't go home, unless you pay.. There is also the legality of it to consider. If you have a resident visa you are entitled to the same rights as a local. Except the right to own land and vote. You can't legally deport someone with a resident visa without a valid reason. But you can detain them until they give up hope and choose deportation. We have a Bangladeshi here, married a local, has something like 11 kids, all local citizens. He insists he has the right to be released, to deport him would rip his family apart. They let him rot here until he will change his mind. He's been here about 2 years I think. We had a Yemeni. His wife died and he owned property, had registered it in her name waiting for his children to reach adulthood. Her relatives filed a civil suit, wanted to take the property and sell it. They made a co.plaint to Immigration. He was detained almost 12 years. Wouldn't deport, that property was all his kids had. Illegal to deport him, he had a resident visa, no crime. It took 12 years for him to get released. Because he wouldn't(couldn't) pay the bribe.

A:

Without telegraphing (ha!) the exact contours of our legal arguments regarding A&C review the agency must examine the relevant data and articulate reasons for the decisions it makes. There is plenty of evidence in the comment record that the FCC didn't do that.

There are also other standards the FCC must meet. For example, the agency must not have a "closed mind" when it begins a rule making. Months ago Chairman Pai stated that overturning Net Neutrality is a fight he "intends to win". We think that's a serious problem for the FCC.

Q:

We have watched it every day for the last 18 days.

A:

This is Stephanie. All the women who decided to go on the record did so expecting that they would most likely be attacked. They all had their own ways of preparing for publication day. They were all unwavering in their decision to go public once that decision was made.

Q:

Hey, I’m back. Thanks for your patience. Again I am so sorry for your loss and can totally relate to the socially awkwardness in dealing with child loss.

I am sorry you felt isolated and certainly that you still struggle. I think communication is critical in the grieving and healing process. A good counselor is priceless, but make sure you find a good one. As with any profession, there is a spectrum of ability.

Books from Brene Brown helped me tremendously (we have one our our resource page called Braving the Wilderness that might be especially helpful for you) and Crucial Conversations (NY Times best seller of multiple authors) also helped me.

I think the best advice I can give is to be honest with the people you care about who you trust. If you feel like the past ten years you’ve been abandoned in your grief, voice it and let people respond. The worst part of staying silent is that you hurt without giving anyone the chance to step up and love you when you need it.

I hope this has been helpful and I really do hope you can find comfort and love in your relationships to feel supported. Feel free to message me if you want to talk further.

A:

Can you answer Social Media inquiries? The current guy is kind of “iffy”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Q:

Yes! The band has been there a few times I believe now for some shows. We always enjoy it over there. As far as the name of the band influence, we wanted to have a David Bowie’s ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars and the similar to the way the Beatles used Sargent Peppers to create an alternative name and reality use to describe a group of musicians. Portugal is a character name and he’s the man. THANK YOU!

JS

A:

I will absolutely be aggressive about supporting Medicare for All. Healthcare is a universal right and every single woman, man, and child in this country deserves access to quality and affordable healthcare. In the United States in 2017, no person should ever go bankrupt or face financial ruin just because they got sick.

That's why I was the first candidate in my race to come out in support of single-payer healthcare. I strongly believe it represents the best and the most efficient way to meet the healthcare needs of each and every American. It is the system that Americans both need and deserve. Advocating for Medicare for All will be one of my top priorities in Congress.

Q:

Hey Guys! I loved perception and was super bummed when it got cancelled. What was your favorite shows you guys worked on?

A:

Which ex-USSR country are you in? Have you experienced any racism over there?

Q:

What kind of restrictions and rules are put on your animation team and the movie in general and, what kind of splitting up do you do with your budget?

A:

What's your personal record time for your safety-message lightning-read?

Q:

Thank you. Shits tough and messed up. No matter what I hope you get your release one day.

Of your everyday routine, is there anything at all which you look forward to? Or in the week?

A:

Do you think that the video he released recently making fun of NN supporters and the other FCC member stating it was already a done deal will also hurt their chances of winning? Or are those two things not substantial enough?

Q:

Why does McDonald's ice cream machine never works?

A:

Rumor is that you and other outlets are preparing a blockbuster story outing dozens of lawmakers for years of sexual assault allegations. Since we're closing in on an election year, when can we expect these allegations to be revealed? And do they disproportionately involve one political party?

Q:

I have a friend who volunteers, too. Beautiful and heart breaking but I come from a background of hospice volunteering and end of life is very dear to my heart.

A:

Are Vienna sausages in Vienna different from Vienna sausages in the states?

Q:

"I'm atomic man, I'm the moon that pulls the tides that take the sand" what does that mean to you guys and how did you guys come up with it?

A:

Advocating for Medicare for All will be one of my top priorities in Congress

How are you planning on paying for it? It’s easy to say you support it, but how do you plan on implementing it?

Q:

Thanks! I loved Perception, I loved being Daniel Pierce. But the chance to be Grant, to be that strong silent type, haven't had that in a while.

A:

Estonia. Long story short, yes, quite a bit, but people here for the most part are pretty non-confrontational. Naturally, people are very very very curious, as black people are extremely rare here, so I do get stared at everywhere I go, but I have trained myself not to make too big of a deal out of it. Most of my racist "incidents" have been with random drunk people, although I did have a run-in with some psycho neo-Nazis once.

Q:

I have zero idea. I just know that the bulk of the budget does not go to me. I do know however that animators work their asses off and deserve lots of money.

A:

Probably like 15 or so seconds. I spaced for a bit then I had to say it really fast to make up for the lost time

Q:

Thanks. Me too. Another aspect I wanted to mention, look at totallydepraved our resident Reddit addict. He wants to deport. While he's been here his mother had two strokes. He's a bachelor and his mother means the world to him as mother's often do to unmarried sons. Thankfully she's pulled through, but he was a mess while she was in hospital. 16 hours a day without his phone, they wouldn't give him permission to keep it inside, "insufficient reason", waiting to hear if she'd passed, if she'd woken from her coma. The man looked a fright from lack of sleep. He can't deport, no sensible explanation why not. He couldn't have his phone at a time like that, but Koreans held here for online crimes had their phones 24 hours a day. But crime pays bribery's bills rather nicely. The guilty are exulted and the innocent punished here. Anything I look forward to? I used to have a girlfriend. I looked forward to her weekly visits like a kid looks forward to Christmas. Now.. when people ask if you're having a bad day I always say it's the same day. Over and over. Only the weather changes. No, theres nothing to look forward to here. You lose any kind of hope with time, which is a mercy because hope feeds despair. In time you deaden that and when you've learned to look forward to nothing, when you've accepted that bad only turns to worse, that the goodness of life is for others now, buts nothing to do with you, then you do alright here. I don't look forward to anything anymore. I hope to help my friends. Thats as close as I can get to hope. You can still hope for others. Though I feel a fool for doing it, like I've been tricked into doing something childish. Believing in Santa Claus, something like that.

A:

The video was in poor taste (and lame) but it won't have an effect on the litigation.

Q:

Same reason they serve round burgers, because they cut corners

A:

We don't comment on reporting that is ongoing but there is a a lot of bad information out there. Our own reporting related to Roy Moore and Project Veritas shows that there are deliberate efforts to spread false information. - Beth

Q:

That’s really awesome. Thank you for sharing! There’s an organization in the states called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and they do something similar.

I called them when my daughter was diagnosed but because they only serve babies who don’t make it home from the hospital, we didn’t qualify so I asked a friend to come photograph the first session we did as a family.

The more I searched, the more I realized there wasn’t anything else available for older people facing a terminal diagnosis so I started Love Not Lost. Thank you for sharing the resource. I will definitely look into it!

A:

Yes, the ones in Vienna are made from actual food. 🤯

Q:

I’m atomic, man. ;) Portugal. The Man doesn’t always get down with punctuation properly. Kind of cool because we always see lyrics as being able to be interpreted from a couple different perspectives. Also we’re big fans of letting songs mean different things to different people. Even among ourselves we sometimes hear them in our way. -K

A:

I am open to different mechanisms for paying for it and there are a number of different proposals for doing so. Bernie Sanders proposed 10 different ways to pay for it and what I would like to see is more discussion as to the best way of doing so. I also agree with Ro Khanna who said, "when Republicans talk about the $32 trillion cost of single payer, can every Democrat please point out the current system costs $49 trillion?". It is expensive but there are also an incredible number of savings compared to our current system.

I believe that you have to phase it over time. Probably starting by lowering the medicare age to 55 and then continuing to lower it until everyone is covered.

Q:

Let me put it this way... We know how the show ends, but if we get the chance it would be fun to take a few more seasons to get there!

A:

Sorry that you had to encounter those types. What inspired you to move to Estonia, if you don't mind my asking?

Q:

What is the best thing that has happened to you this year?

A:

Rides are designed so the seatbelt isn't even necessary. You could ride without the seatbelt and still be perfectly safe. That's how lapbars are designed.

Q:

As an NBI (like FBI) officer said to me..."you have no rights unless we choose to give them to you".

None of the embassies get involved unless their citizen is close to death. The usual response is "we cannot interfere in judicial matters or the internal affairs of another country".

In fact...sometimes it's the embassies that keep people here. People like Art Benjamin who is dying from multiple stage 3/4 cancers and probably has less than 4 months to live. Immigration wanted to grant him bail so that he could die with dignity in his home with his wife. But the US Embassy objected as he is facing duplicate charges in the US...charges that will go nowhere as he will be dead long before he touches US soul again.

So now he's stuck in an isolation cell, dying alone with no family to comfort or help him. He's in isolation to protect him as his immune system is weakened so severely.

A:

Do you think there is a chance of success of repealing the repeal?

Q:

How do you deal with people's disappointment when they find out you're not a hot animated redhead?

A:

Your team was surely aware the report would be disputed by Moore’s ardent supporters, no matter how much research. Was there discussion over how to respond to a group that dismisses any and all evidence? Was there a need to convince them the allegations are credible, not biased?

Q:

How do you just start a non-profit? Is it similar to just starting any other business? How did you start your non-profit? In terms of finances, applying for non-profit status, opening partnerships to help people, and even getting a few people on board to volunteer and help out.

I'm curious about the business logistics of starting a non-profit.

A:

Sure you guys made AKG and not AK-47S?

Q:

Hey guys. Portuguese (hah!l living in Berlin here, and big fan. I saw you guys play here beginning of this year and I was blown-away. It all flowed so well, each song into the next, and it all seemed so free yet perfectly rehearsed, which makes me question: how much is it you guys just jamming and improvising, and how much of it is actually rehearsed? Keep being awesome.

A:

As someone running in a coastal state and a costal district, what are you going to do to combat climate change and rising sea levels?

Where do you think our nation should go with regard to alternative energy? How can California, a state that gets the majority of its energy from fossil fuel (natural gas), improve its own consumption to align more with the environmental views held by most Californians?

Q:

Note to Netflix: I reeeeeeeally think that might take 8 seasons...

A:

I'm in grad school here. Was actually living/working in Russia when I took a trip here for the first time and I really took a liking to the place.

Q:

I got to marry the love of my life! She’s a brilliant artist from Tasmania, and a total babe.

A:

I'd think at most a front of the line pass, mainly because you didn't get hurt, but that's something a lead or supervisor would decide

Q:

It isn't legal. No, there is little criticism of our host country as most Western countries have agreements with them that allow them to work around the lack of an extradition treaty. In exchange for co-operation on law and order and security issues, the Western countries turn a blind eye to this place. When you complain to your embassy about your illegal detention you inevitably hear "we can't get involved".

A:

Sure, both in the courts and in Congress. As we've said, there are serious legal defects with the order and Rep Doyle and Sen. Markey have stated they're going to introduce a bill disapproving of the FCC's vote today and restoring the 2015 rules.

Q:

used to letting people down in person. No biggie

A:

Before the story was published, we went to the campaign with all of our key findings, including the names of the women and an overview of their claims. The Moore campaign never responded specifically to those claims. Instead they made a general statement: "These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign." Beth

Q:

I am leaving for the portrait session now, but I read this and wanted to let you know I will respond when I have more time to give a full answer. Thank you!

A:

We shoot impulse responses not bullets.

Q:

When we rehearse, we try to keep it natural and work on transitions and cues. There’s a bunch of room for inspiration. You can’t rehearse a 2 minute guitar solo, but you can lock down structures and try to find the best flow with the best feel in connecting songs together. -eric

A:

Climate change is undoubtedly the defining issue of our generation. Scientists have repeatedly confirmed that if we do not drive down global greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, it will be impossible to meet the targets set out in the Paris Climate Agreement, and consequently, to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change.

As a Congressman, I would first and foremost be a staunch advocate for the Paris Agreement. With the Trump Administrations’ announcement to withdraw from the accord, the U.S. is now the only country in the world that opposes it. This is unbelievably irresponsible, embarrassing, and frankly, stupid.

This is why it is also essential to accelerate non-state climate action driven by American companies, cities, and states, including the “We Are Still In” movement led by California Governor Jerry Brown and Michael Bloomberg. We need to continue to drive down U.S. emissions by divesting from fossil fuels and investing billions (if not trillions) in renewable energy and clean-technology.

The U.S. also has to put a price on carbon and make the regulatory changes that will help the transition to a low-carbon economy. Examples include ending fossil fuel leasing on federal land and targeting 100% electricity by 2030. We need to also make sure that we are doing something to support workers who are being displaced by a lot of these changes. By and large, we have failed to do so thus far. That’s why you see so many people in coal country support Donald Trump, because they feel completely abandoned by their government. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Ultimately, climate action will bring about more jobs, clean our air and water, improve our health, and increase our national security. It’s in all of our best interests.

Q:

What would be your dream projects?

A:

Do you date black women or do you prefer white women as you said you felt white growing up with an all white familia?

Q:

Well two heads are better than one. Your wife will hate that joke but being from Tasmania she will get it. Best wishes to you both!

A:

Without revealing your identity, why are you there? Will you ever get out? Is escape possible?

Q:

Serious question. Did you sue them before 2015? If so what was the outcome? Is that how we got NN originally?

A:

So how do you guys really feel about your competitors burger King, McDonald's, and Arby's?

Q:

What amount of contact, if any, did you have with the "National Democrat Party" in the course of developing the story?

JFC: I'm not accusing them, just asking to reinforce that Moore's camp are liars. Please stop asploding my inbox.

A:

I currently have a ministry sending out handmade cards to grieving mothers. We launched in April 2017! It’s pretty well known in the Instagram grief community and I do hope to become a registered non-profit once I get the funding! What advice do you have to make the process go as smoothly as possible? Thank you for what you’re doing.

Q:

What do you think tech companies entering the market (Google Home Max, Apple HomePod)? With machine learning and beamforming and such, they bring a lot of tech that has to be hard for audio companies to develop.

  1. Will those technologies materially improve sound quality at the budget / mid-tier levels?
  2. How much does a speaker/headphone company need to invest in the tech / firmware / processig side of product development (qualitatively... not looking for €’s)
  3. What’s the next significant advance we’ll see in speaker or headphone design? Is there room for innovation in electromechanical side?

PS: I’m still enjoyig my k702’s many years later, and am sad to see AKG go.

A:

best show of recent memory and of the last decade?

Q:

Hi Kia,

More power to you - just a thought: maybe thinking positively about having more women in positions of power and with a seat at the table would help eradicate the climate in which such behavior flourishes. Go get Mimi!

A:

Honestly, my dream right now is to keep the crazy combo of Travelers and W&G going for a while. Really happy camper. My dream for years was to play Freddie Mercury but, alas...

Q:

I don't have any sort of racial preference when it comes to dating, but I've never dated another black person because I just don't ever come across them and I don't go seeking them out.

A:

Those are only the Tasmanians who prefer Boag's over Cascade.

Q:

Escape is possible, with bribery. Its been done. But then what? A caucasian doesnt exactly blend into the background here. People facing serious criminal charges back home sometimes try to escape. They usually end up back here in an isolation cell. But for someone like me with no crime, its counter-productive.

A:

The ISPs sued again and again over the last decade as the FCC tried to enforce Net Neutrality rules. We ended up with the 2015 order when the courts made it clear that if the FCC wants to enforce Net Neutrality rules it must do so under Title II of the Communications Act.

Q:

Obviously we think we are the best. Arby's tweets sweet anime and video game stuff, so no hate there.

A:

None, zero, zilch. - Alice

Q:

Thanks for your question and for what you are doing too. I talked to a lot of people, researched (including helpful books from NOLO.com), and started building my board before the 501c3 approval came in. Definitely get the right people on your team who believe in what you’re doing!

A:

Good stuff for me to run by the real engineers on staff. I’ll do so in the morning. It could be just me (combined with the fact that it is 1AM over here) but I’d like to ask for more clarity on question #2 in your list. Are you referring to investment of time expressed as a percentage? Will discuss with the team later today.

Q:

Red Rocks is always super epic and special -K

A:

Thank you so much everyone for your questions. I very much appreciate your engagement and look forward to doing more of these going forward. Thanks again. Please do not hesitate in reaching out to my campaign if you are interested in getting involved or if you have any further questions.

Q:

How was it like to act and to direct at the same time? I think that might be a little stressing?

A:

I was adopted too so I can understand what you mean. I'm Asian and there's not a lot of Asians in the US.

What are your thoughts on your real parents? [I don't know mine so I cannot say much]

Q:

Isn't that civil war talk down there?

By the way, have enjoyed your movies, always made us laugh. All the best!

A:

What do your meals consist of?

Q:

Hey, I've supported NN regulation unwaveringly for awhile. Recently I've started seeing some articles that are providing counter arguments to some popular pro-NN points. Primarily a) it's going to help competition b) the examples of NN violations in the past were over-exaggerate and/or eventually fixed themselves and c) fast lanes and zero ratings aren't that big of a deal and won't really hinder innovation. I'm curious what the counter-counter argument would be. Secondly, will it be legal for comcast (for example) to throttle all other services other than NBC or would that be considered anti-competitive? Thanks!

A:

Have you ever gotten in trouble for anything you posted?

Q:

Some people, including many prominent politicians, have said that these are "40 year old allegations" and that diminishes their importance and that they were only brought up to prevent him from getting the seat in the Senate. How do you respond to that? Do you believe that these stories should break in a way/time to have maximum impact?

Edit: I do believe the allegations and think that they are absolutely important to know. I also understand why the story is being given attention now-especially with the WaPo's answer below-and think it's a great thing it received national attention.

A:

I lost a little one myself to SMA at 22 months, and am glad to see some more public exposure to it, but with so little public awareness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, why not put it more in the front of your presentation instead of just saying a terminal illness?

Q:

Are you restricted due to the AKG patents?

A:

I must be living under a rock, I didn't realize you guys had blown up, but I listen to your stuff all the time. Congrats on the success and here's hoping you get more of the same!

What was your single biggest driving musical influence when you guys were coming together as a group?

Q:

You have literally lost no rights under Trump but in fact have gotten more. Your hatred is what defines you now. Sad.

A:

I love directing myself. I always agree with everything I say. Though I can be a bit of an asshole, I find.

Q:

I also don't know my biological mother and I've never really felt all that interested in finding out about her. I'd be curious to at least see what she looks like and maybe if I have any biological brothers or sisters but I'm not very interested in developing a relationship with them.

A:

Thanks!

Q:

Ahh... rice, rice and more rice. Ok, breakfast is bread and coffee. Then we get a handfull of rice twice a day with a tiny bag of food, usually chicken or beef or fish in msg sauce. A handfull of vegetables a week. We get no calcium, no vitamin B, no vitamin E.. the list goes on and on. Carbs and protein are basically all we get. The menu has 9 items that just circulate, week after week, year after year..

A:

a) it's going to help competition

There's actually been a historic level of investment since the 2015 order. We've catalogued that here: https://www.freepress.net/press-release/108079/its-working-free-press-documents-historic-levels-investment-and-innovation-fccs

We've also heard that argument and I just can't connect the dots on that one. I'd have you challenge or investigate the claim that giving ISPs the power to block, throttle or create fast lanes increases competition. It'll likely work to create an incumbency protection racket where ISPs can work with big content providers to secure fast lanes thereby relegating start ups to a worse and harder to access tier of the internet.

b) the examples of NN violations in the past were over-exaggerate and/or eventually fixed themselves

Here's a list of notable violations. https://www.freepress.net/blog/2017/04/25/net-neutrality-violations-brief-history

One thing to keep in mind is that these violations occurred in an environment where the FCC was committed to overseeing the behaviors and protecting consumers from the unfair practices of ISPs (whether that was under a Title I or Title II regime). Today the FCC has said it will completely abdicate its oversight role over ISPs. It's a whole new chapter in the ISP shenanigan game.

c) fast lanes and zero ratings aren't that big of a deal and won't really hinder innovation

These practices distort the market and encourage further consolidation. We're now in a world where a company like Comcast owns both access to the network and is a huge content creator (NBC) as well. Under the new regime Comcast can privilege its own affiliated content crowding out newcomers and other media.

Secondly, will it be legal for comcast (for example) to throttle all other services other than NBC or would that be considered anti-competitive?

Let's call this an open question. I'll note that this kind of anti-trust litigation can take years during which companies like Comcast can reap the benefits of gaming the network. This is why bright line rules are better than post-hoc enforcement.

Q:

Not like big time trouble, but sure, we've been "talked to."

A:

This is Stephanie: naturally, when there is a race for U.S. Senate, especially a high profile one, reporters are going to begin doing all sorts of stories to try to illuminate the candidates. So it makes sense that reporters would be in the Gadsden area at this time, asking questions. Other than that, our only focus was reporting the story thoroughly and publishing if and when it was solid.

Q:

Thank you for your comment. I am hoping people go to the website and/or watch the video. I only had so many characters and last time I said SMA I got hate comments for not spelling it out and Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a lot of letters. I hope you understand. I am doing what I can to help raise awareness. Thank you.

A:

As much as by any existing patent at any other company. We are developing all of our product lines from scratch with our cumulative 335 years of engineering & design experience.

A:

There is no issue more important to me than civil rights and making sure that every single American is treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.

I can promise you that I will do more than any Democrat running in Orange County on these particular issues. These are issues I worked on when I was on Capitol Hill, I have a track record of standing tall when it comes to civl rights and protecting people from diverse backgrounds.

Firstly, we need to strongly oppose the numerous actions that Trump has taken on this front (i.e. banning transgender individuals from the military, etc). Secondly, we need to advocate for new policies that protect these communities. For example, I staunchly support the Equality Act, because I believe that no person in America should ever be fired or discriminated against because of their gender identity or sexual orientation. And it’s why I will fight to address issues regarding voting rights, criminal justice reform, and police violence.

I will always stand with the LGBTQ community, even when it’s not convenient. My old boss, Sherrod Brown, was I believe the only non-coastal Democrat to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. He was not afraid to vote that way even if it meant that he would lose supporters. He wasn’t afraid to stand tall. That’s the kind of example that I look to in terms of how I am going to conduct myself in office. I will always be a relentless advocate for every constituent, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socioeconomic status.

Q:

Hi Brad and Eric. Iwasn't actually gonna watch travelers until I seen Eric was part of it! I'm one of the new generation that has got to know Will and Grace and fell in love with the show and because of that I've watched multiple shows especially Perception which is one of my favourites..My question is for Eric, is there a show or a project that you have done and hope to bring it back to life? And if so why? Thanks

Q:

What is your honest opinion of Santa Clause 3? Do you think there would ever be a 4th movie?

A:

We get them occasionally but I don't know where they come from.

Q:

How long each day do you guys sit down and analyze memes?

A:

The night before the election, one of Roy Moore's Army buddies told an anecdote of a time they witnessed a fellow soldier patronize a brothel, in Vietnam, that he said had "very young girls" - has there been any investigation into that claim or is it not worth chasing?

Q:

What are the most challenging steps in starting a nonprofit? Any tips for someone who hopes to start one?

A:

What kind of work and education experience is required to be employed at your company?

Q:

All of your albums sound very distinct from each other, I consider you guys to be more experimental than psychedelic in general. Are you going to continue to change things up every album, or has the success of the new album made you want to continue that direction?

A:

Hi, thank you for coming on here!

I'm in Texas, in a congressional district that also might flip (one of the highest priorities of Dems in the state). Like in your district we have a Republican incumbent and 6-7 Democrat candidates in the primaries.

How can one ensure that such an intensive primary helps the Democratic chances of success rather than hurt it? On the one hand, one should be able to utilize it to get more coverage and engagement, while on the other hand we risk putting voters off if we start with in-fighting.

Also, how can volunteers at this stage help the Democratic party in districts such as yours (in addition to helping preferred candidates if one has any)?

Q:

Thanks! I did love playing Daniel on Perception. There are a few plays I've done that I'd love to do again: Glengarry Glen Ross, The Fantasticks. As for TV, I wanna pitch Brad an idea where Grant meets Will Truman and they fall for each other. ;)

A:

No, that has never ever happened, and even though we don't have the absolute best or closest relationship I can't imagine him ever saying something like that to me. And in my case, it wouldn't have made much sense for me to be using racial slurs on my brother given that I "saw myself" as a white guy as well.

Q:

I actually rewatched it a couple of weeks ago, as my wife likes to do instagram stories panning back and forth between Little Me on the TV and Current Me sitting on the couch drinking bourbon. Honestly as far as kids movies go I've seen way worse. None of us thought it'd be the next Citizen Kane. It's super cool as a parent getting to show the movie to my (nearly) four year old and to see other young kids getting enjoyment out of it. To quote The Hold Steady, "the kids at their shows, they'll have kids of their own."

A:

Umm... Right.......

Q:

You mean, how much time do we spend living like cool guys? ALL DAY BABY

A:

I did reach out to that buddy but he didn't get back to me. Beth

Q:

The 501c3 application is definitely a huge hurdle, but you can get through that with the right help.

The more important thing is to make sure you have a problem you can solve that no one else is solving. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and what you’re doing and build your board strategically.

I have an incredible board of directors. They help keep me grounded and hold me accountable, as well as furthering the vision of LNL in unique ways because of our different life perspectives. They are great people with big hearts that also happen to be very talented individuals. I also have mentors and am continually investing in my development as a leader.

A:

Judging by the previous answers to questions: very little!

In actuality, it depends upon the position, the desired skillset and (above all) the person applying for the job.

We hire and develop talent that can get the job done at a high level of excellence whilst knowing how to make the perfect Glühwein on cold Winter nights.

Q:

We’re always going to make different albums. We never want to make the same one twice. -Z

A:

I think in my case I make it very clear that I am running to unseat Mimi Walters not to engage in infighting with my fellow Democrats.

I believe that these primaries are going to be a good thing in terms of energizing our party but also helping to increase the name recognition and Democratic turnout. There is at least some evidence that is what happened in Virginia.

At least in my race, at least thus far, all the candidates have been very respectful towards and each other. I hope it stays that way and I certainly didn't get into this to try and tear down other Democrats.

In terms of how volunteers can help Democratic in addition to helping preferred candidates, there are a number of things that can be done. It is always important for instance to help with registering more voters. In Orange County, the local party and many of the clubs have undertaken their own canvassing efforts that are not linked to any particular candidates. Volunteers who don't prefer one candidate over another can be invaluable those efforts.

Q:

Hey Eric, I've just finished rewatching season one of travelers in prep for next week and I'm so excited! As both shows are on at the same time, how do you think Grant and Will would interact?

Also because you guys are my favourite characters and under appreciated friendship I must ask, do you have a favourite Will/Karen moment?

What made you guys say, “Wow, corporate accounts are boring,” then proceed to become one of the most successful public reach-out campaigns of the year?

Q:

Hi, great work!! I am a journalist and wish to know how you initially discovered -- before you found out the information Stephanie laid out in the video -- that the woman sent by Project Veritas was not telling the truth? Any tips on how to better vet people who I interview and who are dishonest and attempting to pull off a hoax would be much appreciated, thanks!

A:

What are your thoughts on end of life care? Should we do what we can to prolong life or seek the highest quality life a person can live even if it means less time? Which one prepares families better for the grieving process?

Q:

Which is best; Skullcandy or Beats by Dre?

A:

Been listening to you since you toured with Minus The Bear which I believe was your Church Mouth album. Just had a random question, are most of you atheist? I notice some of themes of that in your songs, just never knew if it was true.

Thanks so much for entertaining me for all these years!

A:

Grant and Will would find each other really attractive. And my fave moment with Meg is me singing on the piano, season 2.

Q:

Now that I think of it though, when I was a kid there was this one time that my brother's friend came over to our house, and to keep me from bothering them he (the friend) stuck a piece of paper to my brother's door that said "whites only" or maybe it even said "no blacks" - I don't remember for sure. I couldn't have been older than 6 or 7 or possibly even younger but I remember being really hurt, especially by the fact that my brother didn't try to stop him.

A:

I had a really good time and am grateful for those experiences. I was 10 when I made "Cat In The Hat" and "SC2" and I don't think the enormity of those projects between budgets, cultural impact, or whatever really hit me at the time. Looking back I just think about how fucking huge and cool it is that I got to do that at that age.

Q:

We've had this tone for awhile, it just took time for people to notice.

A:

We use a variety of public records and social media to match their story and to help determine their accuracy. But it can be an issue for news organizations that don't want to spend money on the tools and staff that can do this. Many media organizations have closed down or decimated their research departments. - Alice

Q:

I find a lot of my thoughts align with BJ Miller from Zen Hospice in SF. Check out his TEDtalk if you haven’t already. I went to one of their trainings on mindful caregiving and I really support the work they do.

I can’t speak to what’s best for everyone because everyone is so unique - and therefore their lives and grief are too. One of the biggest things I have seen people struggle with through grief is regret, so if I had to make a blanket statement, it would be to communicate with your loved ones. Make sure all expectations and desires are clear, then love and love the absolute best you can.

Q:

Thinking for yourself is important. I know fantastic Christians who question theology and listen to the misfits. I think organized hive mind mentality worries most of us in the group. We’re all humanists and critical thinkers. -Eric

A:

Unfortunately, there was no credible Democratic challenger in 2016. There was a Democrat who ran but didn't do the work to win the race, so only ended up with 41% of the vote. Further, the way people did not see Donald Trump coming, people also did not see this change in Orange County coming. Mimi also promised the voters of her district that she would keep Donald Trump in check and that she would not just be a rubber stamp for his policies, but she has failed to do so.

What I can promise is that I will always put my constituents and my country above my party.

We talked to many people who said they had "heard" about Moore pursuing teenaged girls or said "everyone knew" but we worked hard to find people with direct knowledge of his behavior. A couple of the women we wrote about had openly dated Moore when they were teenagers so it wasn't a secret. Beth

I can totally understand your skepticism as charities have done an awful job with transparency. My salary is $35,000 per year and my part time Director of Operations is currently making $10,000. We are hoping to give her a raise soon because we want her to be able to better support her family. If you define admin fees, I am happy to get specific with those too if you’re wanting more.

I know there’s no way for you to know that I am a genuine person who truly just wants to help other people going through the worst time of their lives, but I invite you to come to our Spring event on March 1 in Atlanta to get to know us. It will be held at the King Plow Arts Center and I would love to talk with you in person and allow you to hear from the people who have been through our services. You can sign up for our newsletter and get an invite via email or send me your personal address and I can mail you one.

Q:

You'd have to define "major". The overall goal is quite similar but the expectations in tonal modification and/or preservation would be quite different. The feature sets could be greatly similar but voiced a bit differently. Again, the goals are largely the same and this is why, to wit, a mixing console will generally have channels that are all exactly the same and can address a multitude of sources. Yes, there could be stereo vs. mono channels on a desk and those channels could be tuned differently but the theory and approach is largely the same.

The bigger outlier here is the guitar amplifier. Achieving distortion as a part of the guitarist’s 'voice' is required in the great majority of designs. This is less true regarding other instruments.

As that product is under the stewardship and ownership of another company, it is well outside of our planning and control. We think that there are things that could be done to make ‘Made In Austria Great Again’ regarding a large diaphragm dual diaphragm condenser mic and we have aims in that direction.

What you are doing is fantastic, using a tragedy in your own life to help others. I try to do this in my own life, helping those who suffer from anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc because I've been there. How has helping people deal with their grief affected you personally?

A:

Will you release headphones in the future?

Do you see wired headphones that require amping as a business or is it running out due to the customers tending to Bluetooth and you dont want to invest in this area?

Q:

I saw you in Amsterdam! Does Zachary often down bottles of liquor during shows or was it just a one time thing?

So just to clarify, you guys are here to develop consumer products? Any chance we will see pro audio products from you guys that hail from the glory days of AKG from 60-70s? The world needs new CK12 capsules and duo dynamic capsule microphones.

Q:

Hey guys! My question is: what did you guys do before you did music full time or on your off time between tours? I've always wondered what my favorite bands did for work before they managed to break out into playing music full time and how they managed to balance work, life, and playing/making music.

As an aspiring musician/songwriter, I find myself struggling to carve time out to make music these days (read: not dedicated enough to lose sleep after closing at my bar but working on it) with balancing work/life and all that "not music" stuff. All the while trying to get better and singing/playing guitar/writing, it almost seems impossible (I remember an interview with John's advice).

Just another kid out here hoping to make my dreams come true.

Thanks for all the inspiration guys, you rule. Congrats on all the success you're finding.

Edit: Wanted to mention - That All Your Light/A Kilo/The Home/She's So Heavy jam is likely my favorite thing you guys have ever done. Hearing the beginning of All Your Light at your shows gets me so pumped. Keep killing it.

A:

Our Twitter team has mostly been on the account for years. So not totally sure how we were chosen. Maybe because we are all so cute.

Pro, Consumer, B2B and ODM. That’s the name of our game(s).

We won’t repeat the past. That’s certain. There are so many companies doing retreads, clones, incremental revisions...sheesh, not for us, dankeschön. Our 1st products will be where we think these kind of products should be regarding sound quality and feature set for this day and age.

Let me ask this: if you were to design a new handheld & high-quality dynamic mic, what would you like to see? Features & price point.

A:

We’ve all had some weird ones. I remember Zach working at the blockbuster video in town, John can build you a house, Kyle can make you the best coffee you’ve ever had, Jason is a food wizard. I worked in a small airplane shop in Alaska, working on cessnas. I was the graveyard shift manager at a best western in Seattle. We’ve all done whatever you have to do to keep yourself alive and keep making music

Q:

Many years ago there was a Wendy's conveniently located within half a mile of my office. It was replaced by a Tim Horton's which has since been replaced by a bank. Not a single morning has gone by that I haven't woken up thinking about having Wendy's for lunch, only to remember that it is no longer a possibility. I start my day, every day, by standing in front of a mirror screaming "Why is this happening to me?!" while pulling out tufts of hair from my head.

So, if you had to choose somewhere other than Wendy's to eat lunch, where would it be?

A:

Consider me tuned.

Q:

I've been fortunate enough to never have a friend or family member go through something like this, let alone lost someone to terminal illness.

Having been around it a helluva' a lot more than me, what would be your advice/wisdom to someone who is experiencing terminal illness right now, or equally somebody who has someone close to them going through it?

Unsure why this touched me so much, but have donated to the cause because it felt so necessary. Keep up the beautiful work!

A:

First off, I have a few pairs of AKG headphones, big fan, sorry to see them close. When it comes to consumer grade amplifiers would you still say tube is better than solid state? I have a McIntosh C 26 Solid State preamp with a MC 2125 Amp and really dig it.

Q:

Have you guys ever driven the Alcan?

A:

Maybe grab a lollipop at that bank?

Q:

Working on a schedule literally as we type. Will let you know in this thread and on our profile.

A:

Thank you. If you have someone you love in your life who is suffering from a terminal illness or another really hard situation, my advice is to show up. Don’t be afraid of doing the wrong thing or saying the wrong thing, just focus on loving that person.

Be honest. If you’re not sure what to say, tell them that. “I don’t know what to say, but I am sorry and I am here for you.” Is so much better that, “everything happens for a reason” or other cliche phrases that aren’t helpful.

When we’re hurting, even something as simple as sitting next to a person can be the most meaningful act of love. People need to be loved and understood. Just show up.

For those facing the diagnosis, my advice is that there can rarely be too much communication. Sharing feeling, needs, desires, and struggles with people you love who love you back is a critical part of living well and allowing others to help you through this really difficult time. Don’t push people away because you want to spare them and rob yourself of love in the end.

Thanks for asking this!

Q:

I would say that it all depends upon the capabilities of the designer/engineer and the percentage of his/her design goals being met given a price point. Topology doesn’t determine the subjective ‘awesomeness’ of a design. And we must always be vigilant in remembering that the easiest person to fool is ourselves. That’s one of the great things about the scientific method: a built-in bias toward disconfirmation.

A:

3 times! Once in a brand new Dodge Challenger in late September. That was my favorite- changing elevation, watching the leaves turn in real-time, tripping on the wildlife, and northern lights blazing the rear view mirror at night. So cool, so dangerous, so fun. -eric

Q:

Congrats to you guys and Moon Pie for being the only brands I follow. What other brands don't suck on Twitter?

Is there a particular tweet of yours that you feel deserves more love than it got?

A:

Now that the election race is over do you think the victims will be taken more seriously? There was a good amount of Alabama white women and men voters thought the allegations were faked to derail Moore.

Edit: I was wrong to think it was majority source. scroll down to where it says most women and independents thought allegations were true.

Q:

I am sorry you lost daughter.

I’m a photographer in the NY area as well. We work with Friends of Karen, a charity which raises funds and offers grief counseling for families with a critically ill child. If you are looking to branch out or partner with other charities they might be a good contact.

How does a non profit like yours work? Do you rely on donations, grants, volunteers, etc?

A:

Do all dacs sound the same?

Q:

Would you ever consider covering Africa by Toto (kyle would have fun w that)? Also, do you guys think artists/influencers have an obligation to be politically/socially active and share their beliefs w their followers? Thanks guys, love ya lots.

A:

There have been plenty of golden tweets that didn't get picked up, but some just silently go viral, like that picking cheeseburgers off the vine tweet.

Q:

I think the fact that so many media outlets followed our stories reached out to the women we talked to shows that that they were taken seriously. Beth

A:

That’s a great resource to know about. Thank you!

We rely on all of the above. We have currently been operating with mostly individual donations, a few small grants, and volunteers. We will be relying even more heavily on volunteers as we grow!

Q:

If an audiophile plays test tones in the woods is there anyone to hear the sound of all the date requests that have said "No."?

A:

Hi! Dude, I personally think Toto IV is a perfect album and that would be dope. Lyrics are ridiculous but those synths are so epic.

I think that if you travel as much as we do, it makes sense to share your perspectives and share your experiences. Wouldn’t call it an obligation but we feel a sense of duty for sure

Q:

Are you Millennials or an older generation?

A:

The 5th reported person to accuse Roy Moore was Beverly Young Nelson (with the Year Book). She appears to have been brought to the media's attention by Gloria Allred. Did the WaPo vet and check her story before adding her to the Washington Post's list of accusers?

Q:

No questions, just wanted to say thank you for what you are doing. Can you post a donation link for us?

A:

Hey guys it’s Bexx I just wanted to say hello and thanks for the hook up for Sunday I messaged you on Twitter lol

I guess my question is this! What’s better? Some delicious ass Sizzle Pie slices at 2am or some delicious fuckin brunch on a Sunday morning?

Love y’all byeeeeee

Q:

We're a bunch of youngins

A:

We reached out to Gloria repeatedly to try to connect with Beverly but she did not respond. Family members also declined to talk to us. So we did not report that we had confirmed her story. - Beth

Q:

Sure! We have a crowdfunding campaign happening right now and our general donation page which you can access from our website. I will link to the crowdfunding campaign since that’s more fun! LNL Crowdfunding

A:

Yo Bexx! No sweat John is hooking it up. I try to do Portland brunches any day but Sunday. Sizzle Pie is always amazing. See you Sunday. -Z

Q:

Are you all comedians who also do social media stuff, or are you just social media people?

A:

Based on your experience with the accusers why do you believe they chose to make themselves public now rather than during one of Judge Moore's other statewide campaigns? Do you believe the #meToo movement empowered them - or was there some other factor?

Q:

With so many non profits that exist do you feel like your work is still meaningful? I only ask because I have concerned quitting my business to start a non profit for someone I lost but am hung up on the fear of not making a difference.

Q:

Ummm, one of us was/is a comedian also.

A:

It's hard to say whether they were influenced by the broader national environment. As for Leigh Corfman, her reasons for coming forward now were detailed in the story. She did think about coming forward during an earlier campaign, but was concerned about repercussions for her young children. - Stephanie

Q:

Absolutely. I wouldn’t have started it if I didn’t believe it would make a difference. As it’s been said before, there are a lot of causes that serve a specific purpose. We can all do our part to make the world a better place. Best wishes to you.

[edit] Ps- it might help to volunteer with a nonprofit with a similar mission first to get your feet wet. You don’t have to quit cold turkey and I would typically advise against it. I volunteered sessions for years before I started the process for the 501c3.

A:

cough -K

Q:

https://twitter.com/wendys/status/816498310529875968

Do one of your staff actually play(ed) RUNESCAPE? Or did you guys have to research who the greatest player of all time?

/r/2007scape, /r/Runescape, and I are waiting in suspense!

Edit: this seriously was a LEGENDARY tweet by your team. It really hyped up the Runescape communities!

A:

Have there been attempts from groups other than Project Veritas to seed disinformation in order to discredit your investigation? If so, will those be revealed?

Also, as an aside, will you please pass on our most profound thanks to the women whose bravery exposed Roy Moore (further) for what he is. I cannot even fathom the courage and tenacity they had to summon to tell their story. This country is in their debt for helping to save us from the corrupted rule of power mongers like Moore. All the very best to them.

Q:

Are you looking for a summer business intern!?

A:

Hey PTM, huge fan. What would you say your most underrated song is?

Q:

At least one of us has played runescape

Q:

We are open to it. Please send me a message. Thank you!

A:

I gnash on hats all day long, son. 250 easy. -eric

Q:

Where'd ya get your excellent roasting skills from mate ?

A:

I watch a few right-wing Facebook pages and still see the "WaPo offered $1,000 for a Moore accuser" memes spread daily. By now, they have been stripped of any details for fact checking (they don't embed the tweet, for instance, and just make the assertion) so it is very hard to try to refute it. I alternate between trying gently to show the other commenters that it is incorrect, and just ripping into them for being gullible rubes supporting stolen valor (from the twitter account's identity appropriation).

It feels pointless to try to engage. Fake news is so asymmetric in that it is so easy to make, easy for some to believe, and nearly impossible to remove. 1) How do you deal personally with being targeted by fake news and 2) any ideas on ways to stop it?

Q:

how on earth do you get up and knowingly walk into that kind of emotional turmoil day after day after day after day?

i could not do that. not without drinking myself to sleep every night

A:

You guys are my absolute favorite band! I love how each album is so completely different but still uniquely you.

Are you guys ever going to do anything else with the endangered song? I know the point was that it’s supposed to go extinct if the fans don’t pass it on, but it’s my favorite of your songs and I don’t have a copy other than a not-very-good rip from online.

Edit: also Sumatran tigers are coincidentally my favorite animals, so thank you for helping to raise awareness about their endangered status.

Q:

inherited from a smart mouthed family mostly

A:

That allegation was from a known troll who has since been deactivated, here's a good piece on him: https://www.thedailybeast.com/troll-smearing-roy-moores-accuser-stole-dead-seals-identity?source=twitter&via=desktop - Alice

Q:

It’s not easy, and it’s certainly not for everyone, but I think we can handle a lot more than we give ourselves credit for.

A:

Thanks for the love, as far as copies of the song... it’s indeed a rare bird. It was even one of my favorite songs of the era. That’s part of how all these things work. Nothing like a rare song you have to hunt down and not have an easy way to enjoy it, I go through the same thing with some of my favorite songs. Long live the treasure hunt! It keeps it special, rare, and to not over indulge. Best of luck. JS

Q:

Are any of you redheads?

A:

I do have a question. Partially related to this.

Last month, someone from Project Veritas tried to give you fake accusations in order to discredit you and discredit the legitimate accusations against Moore, until you caught them.

Do you have any plans to file a lawsuit or anything like that against Project Veritas?

Q:

What do you eat for breakfast?

A:

Guys, how welcoming has the older fan base been since the exposure explosion occurred this year?

Also, it's surreal seeing your guys grow from the show up at Lake Tahoe earlier in 2017 to a return in spring to the Grand Sierra's awesome theater. Congrats, and you guys deserve it!

Q:

Temporary hair dye does not wash out as well as it should, so thanks to Halloween the answer remains yes.

A:

No, nothing that we are aware of. - Alice

Q:

Depends on the day. A banana - or if I have time, a fried egg sandwich with avocado

A:

The family is still at the core. I still know and recognize the front of the line at most shows. Doesn’t matter if it’s a club, a theater, or an arena. It’s amazing to watch it grow.

Q:

Have the execs ever been pissed at you for a tweet? And have you ever had a particularly brutal one that you decided not to post?

A:

As investigative journalists, how often do you have to confront fear, or work in fear? With a record number of journalists imprisoned this year, and increasing hostility toward journalists and news outlets, do you ever fear doing your job or uncovering something that would be dangerous to report? How do you deal with these emotions (if they exist at all) and continue to deliver good work?

Q:

Do you ever feel burnt out or weighted down working with people you know are terminal? If so, how do you cope with it?

A:

Does Feel It Still ever get stuck in your head?

Q:

We do stop ourselves from posting some stuff. Might save those ones for r/roastme

A:

I didn't feel scared reporting in Gadsden, Ala. One of my colleagues. Liz Sly, the Beirut bureau chief, recently talked at a company-wide awards ceremony about the dangers she and other foreign correspondents face every day. That is real bravery. - Beth

Q:

Definitely weighted down some days. There are mornings I struggle to get out of bed, but I have learned what I need for self-care and giving myself permission to grieve. It’s really important for me to listen to my body.

A good support system in friends and family is also key. A great counselor is helpful as well. Thank you for your question.

A:

All. The. Time. I whistle it to myself in airports and stuff without realizing it. Good song! -eric

Q:

Do you need another member? I don’t have a Twitter, and I have no marketable skills, but my friends call me “the beef”

A:

Thank you very much for your quality reporting.

When you've spent time researching and putting together a bombshell like this, is it hard to transition back to working on the day-to-day journalism?

Q:

How much do you get paid for this? And what percent actually goes to helping people?

A:

Who's your favorite Beatle?

Q:

you are hired

A:

I'm going on vacation for two weeks! - Beth

Q:

$35k is my salary, which I shared earlier. I will be adding a Q&A page to our website in the next few weeks to share the rest of our numbers. Please check there for the information. Thank you.

A:

Musically i’m always drawn to Paul especially cause I play a lot of piano and bass but John is just so cool. Best taste in the band. -K

Q:

Hey Wendy's Twitter, How much do you think that your account's popularity has actually increased sales? Furthermore, why do you all think that more brands don't copy you?

A:

What is your vetting process for stories like this? Do you only publish allegations that you are certain of, or do you instead leave personal opinions out of it and publish if you think there is some sort of credible basis?

Q:

Much respect,How did you deal with the grief if you do not mind me asking?

A:

What's it like finally getting some mainstream Top-40 success after a decade on mainly on the alternative charts? Seeing you guys on the Billboard Top 10 list next to Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran is mind blowingly weird.

Q:

I think many brands are getting a more fun approach. Poptarts, Arby's, MoonPie, are good examples.

A:

We interviewed the women repeatedly, to make sure their recollections were consistent. We only reported details they were certain about, and when possible, we talked to people they had shared their stories with (mothers, friends, et al). We asked them if they had kept journals. (No). We also, when possible, pulled public records that would corroborate their stories. Beth

Q:

Not at all. I have learned a lot of self-care practices and listen to my body. Meditation, yoga, rest, healthy eating (or comfort food on occasion), sleep, crying, etc. I try to give myself what I need.

If I need a good cry, I have been known to watch Braveheart or another tear jerker to help me get started and just let it out. I do my best to not cover up emotions or stuff them down in my depths. It’s much better when I allow myself to feel them 100% and if needed, I will definitely schedule an appointment with my counselor.

A:

It’s been a nice climb to the top haha! What can we say? The song is catchy and fun to play live. The world works in mysterious ways my friend. JS

Q:

Being savage on the internet is scary for brand teams. How did/do you sooth their concerns?

A:

Thank you for answering! Yea I was taught to never cry as kid but sometimes you just gotta let it out :)

Q:

Hey guys two questions! what are your biggest musical influences and also what artists are you listening to right now? Saw you guys a couple years back at the after show you had after Lolla in Chicago. Most unreal show ever! Keep killing it!

A:

Success happened before anyone had a chance to be scared. And then we just kept going through mistakes.

Q:

Absolutely!

A:

Beatles ,Bowie, Motown, Soundtracks ,Sam Cooke ,Prog rock, Pop hits of many eras, it’s an ever growing list. Right now I’m listening to a song called menopause man. It’s a good one, check it out. JS

Q:

All time favourite mcdonalds roast?

A:

Though your nonprofit may not include it, how do you feel about the use of psychedelics or other unconventional drugs to ease the anxiety of the terminally ill patient?

Q:

I remember a while back there was some controversy about "Modern Jesus" (favorite song btw) so what's the official meaning behind the song?

A:

That original asking for a friend one.

Q:

We don’t include it at all, but I think unconventional drugs can be very helpful for terminally ill people.

A:

I think everyone interprets that song differently. To me it’s just about having faith in yourself. -K

Q:

I mean, it has to be the Black Friday one. I applied aloe vera after reading it.

A:

Do you know about this site? https://pineapplefund.org

Q:

What's your 3rd favorite album of all time?

A:

That was also a fun day

Q:

Yes! People have shared it already. We will check it out - thank you!

A:

Q:

What's your take on the re-imagining of Wendy as a smug anime girl which spawned tons of fanart?

A:

Do you still get stuck spinning your internal wheels in life's little ruts and foibles after embracing your work ?

How has it offered some permanent change in perspective ?

Q:

Coming to see you guys in Athens in Feb, been almost 3 years since I’ve seen y’all! Hopefully we can grab a beer or something after, but if you guys had to listen to one Justin Bieber song for the rest of time, what would it be and why?

A:

Some of the art is cool, but some people obviously take it too far because the internet ruins everything lol

Q:

Absolutely I get stuck now and then.

I think my perspective was permanently changed when my daughter took her last breath in my arms. I realized that life is so short and death is very permanent. I didn’t want to waste the time I have left. Death has become a motivator for me to live and love the best I can every single day.

A:

Athens is the best!! Honestly I have no idea. -Z

Q:

yo. yall used to have mac n cheese and it was FIRE. can you let em know I want that back pls? ty.

A:

You're doing a wonderful thing. You're proof that there are still good people in a weary world, and I want you to know that. Because I have to ask a question: what is the food that your holiday just isn't complete without?

Q:

are you the guy that's been tweeting us every single day for 4 years?

A:

Hahaha. Thank you. Mashed Potatoes. Hands down.

Q:

Was there ever a time when you didn't tweet something because it would be too harsh?

A:

Do you accept bitcoin?

Q:

yes, lots of times.

A:

Not currently. That’s a crazy thought though. Thank you for your question.

Q:

I’ve rarely if ever have had an order messed up by y’all. Just wanna say thank you! Also, what’s the best movie of 2017?

A:

Well a bunch of people are newly rich and are looking for causes. Head over to r/bitcoin to learn what you need to get started.

Q:

If you've been following, we picked Lady Bird. lol

A:

Thank you. We will look into it!

Q:

What kind of education background do you need to get a job on a team like this?

A:

Do you prefer soda or tea?

Q:

A Masters at the School of Memeology nothing less

A:

Totally depends on the food I am eating Pizza = coke while Chickfila = tea

Q:

Did all of you get significant bonuses and/or raises from Wendy's this year? I would hope so

A:

Did you get the idea for the name of the nonprofit from Joe Buddens albums?

Q:

dear bosses, look at this comment and do as the internet says. pls updoot

A:

No - I actually don’t know who that is.

Q:

Do you have any hard evidence that a strong social media presence boosts sales, or is actually good for the company overall? Or is it just assumed that having a positive public image is intrinsically a good thing?

Edit: is it just me or is anyone else craving Wendy's?

A:

Did you play the game "That Dragon, Cancer"? What are you thoughts on it? Thanks for what you're doing.

Q:

People say they go eat because of the tweets, and no one has ever lied on the internet

A:

I have never heard of that, but thanks for your question.

Q:

To get the job as a Wendy's media writer, what kind of sass test to you have to pass?

A:

How did you find the courage to keep going after losing your daughter? So sorry for your loss, and huge kudos to you that you were able to keep going and help others. How we react to tragedy speaks volumes of our character. You must be an amazing person - you are surely making your daughter proud.

Q:

You must chug a sarsaparilla in less than 5 seconds without getting sick.

A:

Thank you. I really appreciate your comment. Honestly, I knew I had two options: I could either stay in bed all day and feel sorry for myself (which was tempting) or I could get up and make the most of the time I have left.

It’s a struggle. I don’t have all good days, but that’s life. And I hope when other people are having bad days, we can become a people who love and support one another. If Love Not Lost can help make that happen, I would die a happy woman.

Q:

Do you have a favorite tweet, one that you felt really proud of?

A:

Anytime someone we like tweets at us, like the pro wrestlers, or Kumail quote tweeting us the other day. Or when Overwatch tweeted us, sort of nerded out a little.

Q:

Hi Wendy's Social Media team! How do you guys measure and report on your success? How does the company value social media engagement and track ROI?

A:

It can be hard to track. Impressions, engagements, brand metrics, other marketing mumbo jumbo. People are talking about us, a lot, so that helps.

Q:

How many people are on the team responsible for sending tweets? What's the process for posting tweets, do you need to get copy approved before posting?

A:

We don't get approval for everything, but definitely for some stuff.

Q:

Can you give an example of the kind of tweet you'd need to get approval to post? Just curious.

A:

The McDonald's tweets generally need approval.

Q:

A:

All of our beef is real as heck boi. Don't gets us riled up.

Q:

Would you rather eat 1 horse-sized baconator or 100 baconator-sized horses?

A:

So basically the T-Rex with bacon?

Q:

How savage are you?

A:

Randy

Q:

What is your favorite meme currently?

Q:

Can we get a pic of the team? Curious to see how many of you there are and the faces behind the tweets. Keep up the good work :)

A:

We sort of keep it secret, because it's more about the brand, and not us when it comes to the Twitter.

Q:

A:

What kind of ship doesn't sink?

A:

Q:

Why does your Canadian packaging say "100% Canadian Beef" and your American packaging say "100% North American Beef"?

WHERE DOES THE BEEF COME FROM?

A:

Canada is part of North America, but not all of North America is in Canada.
