Director / CrewAustin Wintory (composer) and Anthony Lund (filmmaker) here -- let's talk about science and music! Lambda Legal and OutServe-SLDN filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the proposed ban on open military service by transgender people in August 2017, following President Trump’s tweets in July announcing imposition of the ban, and, in late August, issuance of a proposed implementation plan.

Lambda Legal and OutServe-SLDN represent nine individual plaintiffs who are all transgender – six currently serving members of the U.S. Armed Services and three individuals who wish to enlist – and three organizational plaintiffs, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Seattle-based Gender Justice League, and American Military Partner Association (AMPA). The State of Washington joined the lawsuit last November.

EDIT: Thanks everyone for your thoughtful questions and support! It's now 2:15PM and we're signing off. Keep up on the case updates at Lambda Legal's Twitter: @lambdalegal

Gaming - LiveWe are Fighting for the Right To Preserve Online Games, AMA Greetings,

My name is Quang Do and I am the first Asian-American immigrant running for the Alabama State House. I'm also the first public high school educator (I teach 12th Grade AP Gov and Politics) to run in nearly 25 years.

Our platform is simple: Educate, Reform, Empower.

If we want to be genuine about fixing our education system we have to reform what's happening outside the classroom to empower our families to fix what's happening inside of it.

You can take a kid from an inner city school and move him to the suburbs but nothing changes if that single parent still has to work 60-80 hours a week and can't support their kids education, nothing changes if that parent gets sick and the kid has to pick up extra shifts at work to help pay the bills because their jobs don't provide health insurance, nothing changes if the car breaks down and there is not a public transit system to help get the kids to school.

Our primary opponent has received over $300,000 (for a state legislative seat!!!) From corporations and super-pacs. We have made a committment to not accept a dollar from any special interest groups and stand by that committment. But we need your help!

Please feel free to share with anyone who might be interested in our fight to #DoBetterFor55 and Alabama.

Check out our Facebook @ or our website at

Here is an interview with a local political podcast for a more in depth look of our platform.

You can view our campaign fundraising page at

I look forward to hearing from you and answering your questions!

Edit: some great questions so far! I'm teaching right now but keep asking and I will respond later on in the day. Please consider donating at to help us fight to #DoBetterFor55 and Alabama.

It's opposite American Idol and, I mean, haven't we already done that? Much love, thanks for typing. #micdrop

BusinessIamA professional college admissions consultant from the United States. I spent six months in India helping high school students apply to American, Canadian, and British universities. AMA! I am Ben Stern, founder of IvyAchievement, a college admissions consulting company. I started the company in 2015 helping people on Reddit (/r/ApplyingToCollege and /r/CollegeEssayReview) and TopLawSchools. I secured a round of funding for my company in April 2016, after a successful admissions cycle. I traveled to India May-July 2016 to get a better idea of Indian families' needs and give presentations at hotels and schools. I returned to India in November 2016 to work one-on-one with clients throughout the American college application season, which is mostly done by February. I took a third trip to India in October 2017 and stayed until mid-January of this year, spending the vast majority of my time assisting students and their families with applications.

I've spent a total of around eight months in India; two mainly marketing and six mainly working directly with families. I've visited Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jaipur, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.

In addition, I've helped students from Kochi, Ludhiana, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Patna, and a few other cities remotely. I have been hired by NRIs (non-resident Indian citizens) in Indonesia, Singapore, the UAE, Bahrain, and Hong Kong.

I've written several blog posts about my observations in India and what I learned there:

Part 1: Why Indian students go abroad

Part 2: Indian families' concerns

Part 3: The Indian high school system

One of my professional goals is to help families by shedding light on the international admissions process. To that end, I assembled an international financial aid guide, the first to combine international financial aid and admissions selectivity data. I also conducted a survey and analysis to determine how competitive the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign is for Indian students seeking to study computer science there (it has one of the most sought-after programs). I report my results here. And because CS is so popular with Indian and other international students, I generated a ranking of computer science programs based on employment outcomes. In general, I like to apply a blend of qualitative and quantitative analysis to admissions strategy.

My clientele is not limited to Indians and my expertise is not limited to international admissions--I've had clients of various ethnicities and countries of origin, including China, Singapore, Italy, Belgium, Azerbaijan, the United States, and Canada.

A few notes about this AMA:

  • I attended Columbia University and Yale Law School, so feel free to ask about those as well!
  • Don't expect an answer to "chance mes" ("here are my grades/scores/extracurricular activities, what are my chances at xyz universities?"), "reverse chance-mes" ("here are my stats, please recommend some universities"), or requests to compare specific colleges/programs. But if particular questions of that type get upvoted enough, I may answer.
  • I'm doing this AMA here rather than /r/ApplyingToCollege because I was banned there for some controversial (and honest) positions. In any case, I think my experience is unique and would be interesting to a general audience. I don't think any American professional admissions consultant has spent as much time in India or dealt with as many Indian families as I have.

So... AMA!

Proof: Website contact page

Proof I've been to India

Edit 5am IST: In case you're wondering how I have so much time to spend on this AMA, it's that most of my clients (and prospective clients in India) are in the middle of exams.

Specialized ProfessionArousal/Orgasm in Sexual Assault: IAmA Psychotherapist, Founder/Director of Sexual Assault Awareness, (and local mod), Back to Talk Taboo, #MeToo & Answer Your Q's on SA! Hello again Reddit!

This is my thank you to Reddit, as much of what I've accomplished would not have happened without your support! As SAA moves into 2018, it seemed timely to once more address this under-discussed aspect:

The idea of having an orgasm or feeling arousal during rape or molestation is a confusing and difficult one for many people, both survivors and secondary-survivors (friends/family). Many do not believe it's possible for a woman or man to achieve orgasm during rape or other kinds of sexual assault. Some believe having an orgasm under these circumstances means that it wasn't a "real" rape or the woman/man "wanted" it. Addressing arousal and orgasm in SA is the final taboo in sexualized trauma; the thing no one wants to talk about. Understanding the psychology and neuro-biology underlying the victims' response to sexual assault will remove the shame and stigma, so a lot more healing can happen.

My clients have seen this, my professional colleagues are beginning to acknowledge this, and now, I hope once more, Reddit will too!

I’m Andrew Pari, LCSW, a.k.a. ChildTherapist, trauma/sexual assault specialist, and Founder/Director of Sexual Assault Awareness (SAA). It’s been over 4 years since I last posted on this topic and I’m so proud that it remains the largest online discussion on sexualized violence, thanks to all of you! Here's the prior post for reference:

Mod-Approved Proof:

Since our last talk, I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to do so many things to raise awareness on sexualized violence & victim response, such as:

  • trained & presented at some of the top organizations dedicated to eliminating sexualized violence, including End Violence Against Women Int’l (, the Conference on Crimes Against Women (, and the Institute on Violence, Abuse, & Trauma (,

    • educated thousands of forensic & mental health professionals, military & law enforcement around the world from New York to Hawaii to Washington D.C. to Switzerland to Korea,
    • partnering with a university on the first formal study on arousal/orgasm in sexualized violence. We are very excited about this! Shoutout to Kayla Bunderson who's leading the charge on this important study!,
    • continuing 20 years of direct work with SA survivors, and getting over myself to begin providing tele-therapy for women in areas where the work I do isn't readily available, including service and outreach to CSECY and sex industry professionals,

and, hopefully, completing the book that folks have been asking me about for years.

I have a strong cup of coffee, my cat, and I'm ready to continue our talk. (And just to save some time: a duck-sized horse. I LOVE duck!)

AMAA Reddit.

Note: I will answer first-order (left-side) questions as it’s difficult to attempt tracking deviating comments. Don't be afraid to think your question may be offensive, as long as it isn’t deliberately so. I'd rather have a frank talk than leave people with false ideas.

EDIT: 1pm CA time I'm heading off for awhile, but will continue to answer your questions as the day goes on. If you have a personal issue you want to talk about, feel free to PM me or visit our website: Thank you, Reddit!

EDIT2: 4pm CA time: Back to get through as many questions as I can. I'm receiving a number of PMs and plan to get to ALL of you. Please feel free to PM me, but just know it may be a day or two before I can reply.

EDIT3: 7:30pm CA time: Taking off again. Will check in again before going to sleep. I'll continue answering questions when I have time as long as you are asking them!

Director / Crewhi it's don hertzfeldt (filmmaker) how are you? AMA I’m Ken Seeley and I’ve been involved professionally and personally in recovery since 1989. I’m honored to have the privilege to educate millions of people through the television show Intervention on AE since its 2nd season.

This season of Intervention premiering tonight, January 2nd at 9pm, is a special 8 part series. For the first time in series history, we follow interconnected stories of addicts and their families suffering at the hands of the national opioid crisis. Living in a cluster of communities within the affluent Atlanta suburbs known as the “Heroin Triangle,” the families chronicled highlight the desperate need for support and help during this national drug emergency. Each episode focuses on the journey of those plagued by their opioid addictions and their families who are left to pick up the pieces, as well as the city officials who are on the ground fighting as they attempt to intervene and save the lives of those affected while helping to heal the community. I’m joined by my fellow veteran interventionists Candy Finnigan and Donna Chavous. We’re partnering with interventionist and Georgia native, Heather Hayes, as well as new team member, Michael Gonzales. We’re attempting to help these victims of addiction as well as the community it’s impacting.

Watch this season’s trailer:

Director / CrewWe are Eric McCormack (Travelers, Will and Grace) and Brad Wright (creator Travelers, SG-1). Season 2 of Travelers hits Netflix, we're excited to talk about it, TV, sci fi, or anything! AUA! Hey, Reddit! I’m super excited to be here for my very first AMA. My name is Kia and I’m running for Congress in California. Proof.

I’m a California native and the son of Iranian immigrants. I believe in the fundamental goodness of the American people, which is why I was both ashamed and outraged when Trump took the presidency.

Since becoming president, Trump has pushed a regressive agenda that has denigrated our political discourse; undermined our credibility abroad; and increased inequality and intolerance.

My top priority is to unseat the current incumbent, a pro-Trump Republican representing a district that voted for Clinton by over 5%, and to promote a progressive agenda that benefits all Americans, not just those seeking Trump’s largesse.

So ask away! I’m looking forward to answering your questions.

90 days with no electricity college student in PR AMA! I grew up extremely poor as a child and my mom was possibly mentally unfit to parent. I often had no home to live in and more often no food to eat. When I was 11, my house caught fire and as far as I understand they believe my mom did it on purpose. Because of this, she wasn’t able to collect the insurance money and we were forced to move back into a burned out shell of a double wide trailer that we put a layer of plywood over where the fire had burned through the exterior walls. I continued to live there until I was about 13, when I had to finally move because she wouldn’t let me live there anymore. At 18, 8 months after 9-11 happened, I joined the Marines and was part of the first invasion force to enter Iraq in 2003. On my second deployment to Iraq, I was shot by an enemy rocket and then my own people (not so friendly fire) while waiting to be evacuated for my injuries. My best friend was beside me and lost part of his jaw and most of his teeth. Another of my close friends was killed by sniper fire that same day on the rooftop of the same building.I received a Purple Heart for being wounded and was then honorably discharged from the Marines in 2006 and spent several years attempting to drink myself to death before having a daughter and deciding to change things for the better. I was playing music in a band and that led me to discover my true passion of recording music. I went to school and right out of school moved to Hollywood to become an audio engineer. Since then I have worked with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steven Stills, Imagine Dragons, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Ariana Grande, Skylar Grey, The ChainSmokers, Travis Scott, Pharrell, Timbaland, No ID, Young Chop, JayZ, Ludwig Goransson, Jemaine Clement, Tom Petty, Third Eye Blind, Slayer, Metallica, most of the members of the Mars Volta and ATDI, Ozomatli and so many many more. Most recently I recorded Vic Mensa’s debut album, The Autobiography. I’ve been married 3 times and my current wife is a singer in the British band, Crystal Fighters. Im currently on tour with JayZ and Vic Mensa, recording Vic’s new material on the back of a bus with a studio in it. Last summer I built my own studio on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. I’ve been in riots, gun battles, bar fights, and I ran with the bulls in Pamplona. I’ve been thousands of dollars in debt and flush with so much money I don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve struggled with depression and addiction, loneliness, hunger, commitment and fear of abandonment. I’ve lied to people I love and I’ve been wrong more times than I’ve been right. Overall, I feel like your typical, ordinary American dude who keeps Jar Jarring his way into extraordinary situations.

I’m here to answer any questions about my life, the artists I’ve worked with, my military experience or anything else you guys could want to ask but also to promote my wife’s new solo project that I am so very proud of her for completing, so please check out Eleanor K on Spotify and iTunes, follow her on Instagram @eleanorkofficial and watch her music video Youtube-Eleanor K We are on an off day today so I’ll stick around as long as anyone has any questions. Also, follow me on Instagram @greazywil for day by day updates of our dressing room quality and pictures of nerd stuff.

You can find verification on my Instagram @greazywil

Edit: Thanks for the amazing questions everyone. I am going to continue to answer and respond to every one for as long as I can. I know I always get bummed out when I see an AMA thats been over for hours and I'm just seeing it for the first time. For all you veterans out there, I see you. I know you've been dealt a rough hand. No one with a stable life and good upbringing with lots of money needed to join the military. I know how hard it is. Don't give up and don't use your military service as an excuse to not keep working hard. This world will give you nothing for free and you need to keep earning and proving yourself every day. Message me any time for some encouragement and occasional tough love.
